Lanzarote

What you need to know before you go

Lanzarote is famous for its volcanic landscapes and palm-tree-fringed beaches. Declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1993, the island has around 360 volcano cones within the Timanfaya National Park. The 4th largest of the Canary Islands, it enjoys sunny days for most of the year, with an average temperature of around 22°C. In July and August, daytime temperatures can hit 28°C and waters are nicely warm for swimming.

Lanzarote has a bohemian vibe, influenced by iconic architect and artist César Manrique. Some of the places he designed include Mirador del Rio, Al Campesino, and LagOmar Museum. The world-class vineyards of La Geria, between Uga and Teguise, are must-visits if you want to sample the best wines the region has to offer.
