Good and bad points
This was our second time staying here. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and well maintained. Our only complaint about the room is that during the winter season they are cold. There are no heavy blankets or comforters provided. Only a thin bedspread. Also the breakfast is very sparse. Only waffles, toast, bagels, cold cereal and instant oatmeal. The coffee is really bad as well, very muddy

The front desk clerk was friendly and helpful upon our arrival. The lodge was very quiet and secluded with a wonderful access to a short path leading to the Natural Bridge. The hiking in the surrounding areas was great! However, the lodgings were very old and dated. Everything metal in the room showed signs of rust. The room smelled of mildew covered by air freshener. The screen was rotted off the door to the balcony and needed to be replaced. The toilet was very slow to flush and the shower dripped after trying to turn it off several times. It just felt very old and depressing to stay there; not worth the rates they charged.

Our room didn’t have heat. The thermostat was broke. We reported it that night. Have us blankets. No heat. Said they would fix it in the morning. Came home the next night and the thermostat still wasn’t fixed. So we went up to the check-in and they said they would give us a heater. So I had to go up and get the heater and bring it to my room. Then I came in and looked at it and said it couldn’t get fixed so we didn’t have heat that night either. When we checked out the girl at the desk, asked me if I would bring the heater down to them. I said I left it in the room. Didn’t ask me about didn’t ask us how things were. Poor communication.

The room was very clean. The food from the restaurant buffet was very good. The natural beauty of the area was outstanding. I enjoyed the balcony quite a bit. It was also very enjoyable to have an onsite bar. The room and hotel could stand some updates, but, of course, it is a state park and all that depends on state funds. My biggest complaint is that the nearest ice machine was not working. I also felt the beds were a bit small for to be classified as queen size, but that could be just me.

Room wasn't clean. Beds dirty and unmade, bathroom not clean, dirty towels on floor, dirty coffe cup and towels on sofa, clearly not touched by housekeeping. Staff took no responsibility for it, but said he needed to talk to day shift. Sorry we wasted our time getting there, as it was late already, and 5 minutes after checkin we needed to look for a new place to stay.
