Looks a lot better on the inside!
Don't be put off by the plain looking building if you view on Google StreetView. The inside is beautiful. The "cosy double" was actually a good size. Check-in was quick. Balcony access was restricted due to building works. This in itself wasn't an issue, but the windows could have been cleaner to maintain the lovely sea view. I would have loved a Smart TV in the room, but that was more a personal issue due to a clash in booking the comedy event I was attending and wanting to see a live event on Netflix on the same night!

2 night couples break
Stayed for 2 nights in deluxe double sea view. Bed was very big and comfy, pillows a little too soft for me but may be fine for other people. Room was clean and spacious with good sized bathroom.View was fantastic over bay with nice balcony. Breakfast was included, service good and selection of hot and cold very good , only downside from my point of view was hot buffet food had been out a little too long and gone past its best under heat lamps. The outside of hotel could definitely do with a paint and a little time spent on tidying and sweeping

Winter Break
The hotel doesn't look much from the outside but inside the grand high ceilings and decoration are fabulous. The staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Our room a deluxe sea view was fantastic (Rm 124) with a balcony and a view of Torbay, even from your bed. The decoration was a little tired but the room amenities were good, including separate dressing room. A small fridge would have been a nice edition though. Also we accept it is an old building but the lack of power sockets by the bedside tables was a little issue, also no USB sockets. The Spa was a little disappointing as the Steam Room was not working and Saunas are segregated but we enjoyed a lovely swim never the less. The breakfast was a fantastic choice with continental and a hot selection although if you arrived later some of the more exotic choices did not get re-filled which was a shame but the service was brilliant. Highly recommended and well worth the price with a great location only 5 mins walk from town. We will definitely be back.

Negative into a Positive
I had booked a standard twin room but upon entering the room felt depressing. Scruffy furniture, very unattractive and the bed valances were untidy. I chose this hotel because the reviews were better than others and I liked the decor and architecture of the interior. I expressed my disappointment to the reception and a very nice lady called Louise helped me to change our room. We were moved and were pleasantly surprised with one that had been refurbished. This act of service by Louise gave us a very enjoyable stay, she changed my experience into a positive one.

Lovely hotel
We had a lovely stay at The Imperial Hotel. The room was spacious and lovely, with sea views and a balcony. We couldn’t have asked for more. The staff were very friendly and obliging. The breakfast was very enjoyable with a huge choice. To top it all, the weather was sunny and mild even though it was mid January! Loved it!

Ok but
Always a cracking stay. But we did have something stolen from our wallet on a previous stay which we know was from a male room cleaner. We couldn’t be bothered to report it. But beware, dont leave valuables around.

Charming hotel
This is the first visit to the imperial Torquay but will definitely be going back. The hotel is like it has been plucked out of a poirot movie, grand staircases, Chesterfield sofas, big wingback chairs, beautiful, right up my street. Had a double deluxe with a sea view and the room was huge, and spotlessly clean. 2 comfy chairs to take in the sea view, robes and slippers, toiletries and plenty of tea coffee and bottled water. The bar was reasonably priced, did not have the breakfast so can't comment on the food. It's a 5 minute walk to the harbour and 10 to the town, there is a harvester pub next door practically that are open all day and you can book a table. It was quiet when we went due to the time of year but still had a pleasent time. The on site parking is plentiful and £8.50 per night. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the imperial Torquay, the hotel was charming, elegant and full of character, just wish I had tried the pool and Spa, will pencil it in for when I go back.

No sleep
It was a lovely place to stay but sadly room 331 had a fan or something loud going off all night! So for 1 night away for a date night we could not sleep. Due to that i would not stay again which is a big shame. I recorded this and played it to reception on the way out apologies given.

Wonder place, a bargain for luxury, historic
They were amazing. The staff went out of the way to accommodate my extra needs: adding nights to my booking and providing a ramp for access to the dining room. They even arranged for an in-room refrigerator for my medication. Really attentive and courteous.
