Stayed on a Sunday night overnight to see the illuminations. Paid under forty pounds for room only so did not go expecting the Ritz Glitz or 5 Star experience.
Check in quick and very friendly, given room on first floor, which was on first glance ok.
Room set up as twin but no issues, kettle in room and variety of tea coffee milk which could be topped up f.o.c at reception, and flat screen tv all good for now.
Then the wheels started coming off,for us ,as follows.
Beds extremely hard and uncomfortable, pillows full of lumps, pungent smell of damp from bathroom.
But we were prepared to accept live with these issues as we didn't want to make a fuss due to the amount we paid. However unknown to us at time of booking the Hotel was hosting a Country and Western event over the weekend the finale of course on Sunday night.
We gad had some low music noise in the room on the afternoon, check is is not until three, but dismissed it and went out for the evening returning around nine thirty.
Well to say the noise from the Band on stage was deafening is an understatement as the room was rocking and Bass shaking the floor. You really could not hear yourself talk. It turned out we were literally the room the floor above the stage, and might as well have been in the Band with them,
I went down to reception and complained but at this time really did not want the hassle of moving rooms etc so they said as a gesture they would give us two complementary Breakfasts which i accepted.
