Very friendly host/comfortable stay
Very friendly owner/host. Excellent service. Good Japanese-style bath. Western toilet and WiFi only on first floor. Breakfast room available for guests use (no meals served by inn). Close-by supermarket. Only wish they didn’t smoke because odor permeates property.

Close to beach and sights
Take bus number 30 from Shirahama station and get off at Shirahama bus stop. It is a white building about 100m from bus stop.
Nice old house with beautiful koi pond and garden in the middle of house! Japanese style room for 2 persons is spacious and clean. Futon is clean and comfortable. Onsen bath area and toilets are clean too. Aircon works well and there is NO extra charge. There is onsen tax of ¥150/pax (same tax throughout Japan) for accommodation with onsen facilities.
Owner is very helpful, speaks some English.
Easily accessible nice beach ~150m away. You can walk to Sakinoyu (seaside onsen) in 10 -15 mins.
This guest house is recommended if you don't need hotel standard stay.

Friendly but aging traditional Japanese Minshuku
We think some past reviews of this place are a little unfair. Yes the building is old and tired (think 70`s era) and could do with a refresh, but the facilities and service were as one would expect from a low/mid-range traditional Japanese minishuku accommodation. The elderly lady (in her 80`s!) and her son who run the place were lovely and went out of their way to help their guests. We were even offered a lift to the station, which was greatly appreciated. The room was spacious and clean, the bath facilities were ok but definitely in need of renewal. The location is great, just set back from the main beach and near a number of restaurants and a supermarket. The provisions in the communal kitchen could be improved (strange layout, extra utensils and crockery needed) but we made do. There is a pretty courtyard garden with carp pond in the center of the building which makes for a nice setting. Overall we would recommend this place for a budget night or two as long as your expectations aren`t set too high; Shirahama as a whole is a tired beach resort town in need of some modernisation, so this place fits right in!
