This was a bare bones hotel. no coffee maker, no tissue. But the worst thing was the parking-there isnt any. The 2 people I dealt with were very accomodating, but I wish I would have know how little there was to the room, how the light came in under the door and how incredible noisy it was because of some strange sound from the parking garage gate or some sort of machine.

Average room, wouldn’t stay at property again
Our stay got off to a rough start. I paid extra for early check-in, but there was some confusion about which room we were assigned. The staff member helping us seemed to be working very hard, but it looked like he was the only person in the entire building, which I felt bad about. The room itself was much smaller than expected. If the check-in process had been smoother, I would have given a higher rating. For the high price, I didn’t feel the value was there.

Not travel friendly
I arrived before check in time to drop off my bag. Being that this hotel is not staffed, I called Rita for assistance. She explained that my only option was to pay the $40 early check in fee in order to drop my bag off. “You are already getting a really great deal” she says. Landlord vibes.

Great Location
There is no front desk so check in is remote. The key code was easy to use and finding the room was a breeze. Close to Gaslamp and 5 min walk to Petco Park. Street parking is hard to find on weekends, there are however numerous pay public parking lots.

Rita was a fantastic host at hotel Gigi! She went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and to work around her usual check-out hours so that I could maximize my time enjoying the sights of San Diego before and evening flight out. The hotel itself was very nice too. For a great price, It is expectedly small but has all the essentials and was in spotless condition. It was evident how much care Rita put into preparing each room and making sure every guest was cared for. If I ever find myself back in San Diego, this will be the first place I look for lodging!

No frills place to stay in the heart of downtown San Diego. Room was very clean. Check in was done through a PIN code that they email you and there is no lobby or front desk. However, the person in charge (Rita) was extremely helpful when I called to inquire about early check in, which was allowed did small fee. It has hostel vibes but clean and well appointed. There are restaurants and bars within a 3-5 min walk.

Great stay but not ready for business people
Very very clean, updated, and fresh. Secure and quiet, ideally located to access the Hilton Bayside and SD Convention Center sites. Walking distance to hundreds of bars, pubs, and restaurants, not to mention retail shops of interest. My only wish for the room was a small table to set me laptop to get some work done. Even a fold-down tabletop hinged to the wall would get the job done. Business folks need a place to get an hour or two of work done in a hotel room; this would make Hotel Gigi better suited for business travelers.
