I arrived at about 10:00PM and there was a sign that said the doors are locked at night, I needed to go to the side window. I did so and the clerk was polite. I asked if the neighborhood was really so dangerous that they had to lock the doors at night and he said he thought it started with Covid. Whatever. He gave me a room keycard.
He also told me that they would charge an extra $50 that would go back on my card after 5 business days if I didn't use any incidentals. Five days is much too long and $50 is too much.
I drove over to my room and saw litter all over the parking lot, including take out food boxes and cups. I normally keep a handgun in my glove box, but I decided to bring it in with me in case my car was broken into or, worse, my room was.
Inside the room, everything was very old. Furniture was nicked and stained and there was a musty smell. It was cold and I could not make the heat go above 67 degrees. There were no spare blankets and the one on the bed was thin. There was a refrigerator that made annoying noises all night. The sheets and bathroom were basically clean but there were some mosquitoes in the room.
Had I not been so tired from driving all day I would have changed to the Holiday Inn a bit down the street. I booked this place because I was going to be there for 9 hours and all I needed was a bed and shower. I figured I would save a few bucks but this place was not worth the $101 ($80 plus taxes) I paid.
The morning clerk was polite.
