We’ve stayed here several times as we travel to and from Mexico. It’s never been the nicest Red Roof in the country, but it’s always been clean and comfortable. This time was such a difference that we’ll never be back.
The sheets had cream colored stains on them. The pillows had what looked like makeup stains on them. The bathroom had ants and the vent was caked in dust. Enough to know it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. As a former restaurant manager I always joke to “never look up” anywhere you’re at unless you’re ready for a dose of reality.
The one thing the room DID NOT have was bed bugs to which I’m thankful for. Honestly though, I wouldn’t credit this place’s standards for that as much as I would dumb luck.
As frequent travelers we LOVE Red Roof Inn as a company. I’ve stayed within their hotel/motels for a decade or more and have written a few amazing reviews for the ones that stood out. This is my very first negative review. I truly feel Red Roof represents the most value in America for the cost. Whether they’re newly renovated or have dated, dinged decor- we love them because they’re always clean, the staff always nice enough and professional, and their pet policy unmatched. We don’t need anything fancy, just functional and clean.
The reason I’m writing this is because this particular Red Roof has always been seriously dated, but now feels like they’re slipping into simply unclean. For the amount of buildup on the vent it wasn’t just missed once.
