Loved all the people working at Kay El. First time at a dude ranch and loved the mellowness of it.

Excellent example of a true ranch, not something put together for tourists. Lots of historical background. Our European visitors had requested that our sightseeing trip include a real western U.S. ranch. This was perfect and they loved it!

Peaceful and serene
Absolutely beautiful location. Horses, birds, all kinds of stunning flora and fauna around. It was quiet and peaceful, someone always available for questions or whatever. It is off a dirt road ( little tricky on our motorcycles), but the location added to its charm. Rooms are comfy and clean and the food was really good! We didn’t take advantage of the activities they had to offer, horseback riding etc, but I’d love to go back again and try it someday.

Really enjoyed Kay El Bar. Nothing fancy. Spent two nights. Meals were great, and although we didn’t ride, this is a real ranch with a great old west vibe!

We enjoyed this cozy and welcoming resort that had great food and a relaxed ambience. We didn’t ride but heard that the riding was excellent. The hiking was good. Happy hour food was provided and sometimes there were cookies to enjoy. There was no housekeeping during our stay which was fine with us.

We enjoyed morning horse riding, but the breakfast and dinners options can be better. Need add more tasty and variety food. Also, a bed can be more comfortable. Price and quality are not equal. Should be cheaper night stay, or make updates.

Authentic dude ranch experience
My husband and I were celebrating our 38th anniversary and visited Kay El Bar guest Ranch! We had a fabulous time! The horseback riding was amazing, thank you so much, Carter and Stephanie! Very professional!! Horses were beautiful and well taken care of. The chef prepared wonderful meals every day! It was very peaceful, waking up in this environment, I recommend it to everyone! So much to do, and so much to learn. This ranch is listed in the National Registry of Historic places. Very authentic!! Wickenburg, the closest town, is an excellent place to visit for shopping and food! The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and comfortable! Kyle, Emily and Jilly were amazing!! Beautiful family! The falcon show was something to see! There is a 100+ foot eucalyptus tree that will blow your mind! Would love to see their ranch in Montana, that is on our bucket list now! Thank you for this unique experience!!

We had a wonderful stay at Kay El Bar guest ranch. We highly recommend the horse riding experience -- we were total beginners and they made us feel really at ease. We loved the communal dining for meals and the food was a real highlight as each meal was so delicious! Would recommend opting in for lunch and dinner as they are excellent value for money given the high quality of the meals.

4/10 Fair

Not worth the money. :(
There was no hot spa available. There was no archery available. The horse ride was cute but more like a horse walk. Cute but I have seen better horse ranches than this one... The staff are definitely amazing people. But after no working hot spa and a phone about their archery range and their rules about archery, I later find out that there is no archery available at all... Not the greatest place to stay, you may want to find another place; so if you are reading this continue looking for another place to stay. Best of luck!

The trail rides and horses were great. The wranglers were friendly, patient with beginners, and appreciative of advanced riders. The food was awesome. Unfortunately the target shooting was full so we didn't do that. We will stay longer next time.

Love the chill vibe and unplugging. We enjoyed lounging in the main lodge area and having access to various soft drinks and other beverages for a small fee. That helps just feel at home. The manager Emily and her family were so hospitable. One of the highlights was seeing the Falcons in the morning, what a rare treat.

8/10 Very good

We had a wonderful stay at Kay El Bar Ranch. Stacey is a fabulous trail guide, friendly, great customer service, cares about the guests. The guest house room was adorable and comfortable, there was a tub, but unfortunately couldn’t use it because there was no plug. Went to use the hot tub, it was broken. We changed to a suite during our stay, it was large, but very outdated. Needed paint- stained walls, ceiling, the fireplace hadn’t been cleaned (looks like ever) and smoke comes straight into the cabin. Not safe, carbon monoxide nightmare. Bathroom was dirty, toilet had pee down the sides and on the floor in front of the toilet. The floor mat was old and super gross. Paying more for that suite, they should fix it up. I didn’t feel like it was worth the extra money. The managers are nice, but very unorganized. They seemed much more concerned with their marketing photography going on then with the actual guests staying there. That was a bit of a bummer, as this place isn’t cheap! James, the breakfast and lunch cook is awesome. Provided amazing breakfasts and lunches that were delicious. He’s also friendly, kind and makes you feel happy and at home. We did have a great time, though it could be more organized. The staff is great, management needs some work and customer service skills.
