All of the staff here are friendly and helpful as could be. The AC in the room worked great (and was quite necessary with the heat) and the fan on the terrace was a nice feature as well. Some people don't like the noise from the Barefoot Bar next door, but with the AC on at night we could barely hear anything from there. Plus, we go to the Barefoot every night anyway so being within easy stumbling distance was nice. The facilities are in need of some repair. For instance, the water heater was nonfunctional for several days, our kitchenette faucet sprayed water everywhere when turned on, and the springs were about to burst out of our mattress. The first two problems were eventually resolved but we had to make do with the mattress. But, the prices are also quite low for Placencia so I guess you get what you pay for.

Find someplace else to stay.
Pros - The staff was very courteous, helpful, and friendly. Two of the cabanas face directly onto the beach, the rest are only steps away. They have an onsite laundry. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. Cons - Granted I only saw one cabana, the one I stayed in. But if it was any example, then this place is a dump. While they have a prime location on the beach, and the exterior of the cabanas look nice, the interior was terrible! At some point they removed an interior wall...the groove in the floor where the wall stood was partially filled in with crooked, misaligned and mismatched tiles, and the rest was filled in with concrete. The bathroom and kitchen "cabinets" were built of 2x4 studs, and they were not stained or painted, just bare wood. The bathroom and shower was in disrepair, the toilet rocked on its base. IMO, the owners are taking their profit and not even trying to invest any money into making improvements. That is certainly their perogative. With the prime oceanside location, if they would fix the place up, they could probably ask more money. As it is now...go stay somewhere else. This place is cheap...and it's cheap. There are much better options in town, even on the beach, for not much more money. The only way I would stay here again is if there was nothing else available. Seriously folks...show some pride in your property and fix it up.

Enjoyed our stay and the location
I loved the location of Julia's Cabanas, and also cabana #6 which we stayed in. The cabanas are pretty basic, but also had all things needed such as air conditioning, refrigerator, etc. Shelly was fantastic and helped with anything needed - she's a true asset to the property !! One thing that would be great is if they had more comfortable lounge chairs on the beach and or some nice cushions to make the lounge chairs more comfortable.

Great stay
The host Shelly was amazing! She looked out for me and made sure that I had a great stay. Shelly helped me with my travel arrangements and encouraged me to rent a golf cart and drive around Maya Beach and the village. This was my second time in Placencia and Shelly helped me to feel like Belize could be my retirement place. Thank you Shelly you are special!

Wonderful stay! Thank you to Shelly for a seamless check in and being an amazing host during our stay. The location was perfect - right off the boardwalk and beside the beach. We especially enjoyed using the beach chairs and icebox. The rooms were perfect and the AC was very much appreciated. Will definitely return on our next visit to Placencia.

I came across a great and awesome manager of the property Shelly. Always asking how we're doing and if we needed anything. Yes, I did put in my special request Belizean Style Sunday lunch and it was delicious and tasteful. I don't have any negative to add. Miss you Shelly will definitely see you when I revisit. Good location for the Budget conscious
This property is on the beach/beach access and very close to many shopping and restaurant/bar options. The room was property was fair and needs some updating. It was very noisy on one of the nights (Saturday) i believe from the bar next door. Overall. It was decent for a couple of days. If staying longer, this may not be an option.

This is the second time I have been to Placencia, and the second time I have stayed at Julia’s. I will stay there every time. The cabanas are clean, safe and centrally located. You are treated like family. Anything you need, they are there for you. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Shelley was an amazing host. Always there tongreet you and help if you needed anything! I cannot say enough nice things about her. Our beachfront cabana was next to the bar. They did warn us ahead of our stay, but decided to go with it anyway. There were times it was loud, but not unbearable and worth the view on the beach and price. Julias is in a great location within walking distance of everything. For this reason we didnt need a car rental. Loved Placencia!

This was one of the best places we have ever stayed. Shelly was so helpful, and cheerful, and made our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend these cabanas. The property was super clean. We stayed next to two great restaurants on the beach and they were also fun at night for social mingling with world travelers.

The location is incredible if you're looking to stay as close to the beach as possible. The staff are all incredibly helpful and friendly. It is quite loud with the bar music next door, so if you're looking for peace and quiet this probably isn't your spot. The location is very central and walkable. The only thing that was off putting about our room was that there was a flying ant infestation in the wall of the bathroom. They ended up coming out after dark around 9pm and quickly filled the bathroom, but they were back in the wall in the morning. Shelley was on it right away in the morning with insecticide but its unlikely she would've known it was in the wall because there was no sign of it during the day.

Julia’s Cabanas is a great place on the beach in Placencia. The AC is cold and necessary in May. The bed/sheets/pillows are really good. Shelly is the best. She has great communication and cares about her guests. She is attentive and happy to be of service. She is such an asset to the property.
