Osaka and related destinations

Between the neon-lit Dotonbori district and majestic Osaka Castle lies a city that takes food more seriously than most nations take foreign policy. The covered arcades of Nipponbashi offer everything from manga to electronics, while locals debate which street vendor makes the definitive takoyaki. Universal Studios Japan delivers theme park thrills, but the real adventure happens at Kuromon Market where vendors slice fish with surgical precision. The Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan houses whale sharks in tanks so vast you'll question your place in the universe. After dark, join salary men unwinding over kushikatsu – deep-fried skewers that demand respect for the 'no double-dipping' rule.

Hotel Monterey Grasmere Osaka

Hotel Monterey Grasmere Osaka

10/10 Excellent
"The staff was very helpful and kind, special thanks to Yuisa, who checked us in and the woman at the reception who checked us out. The room itself was well kept, we stayed 3 nights, our room was cleaned and towels changed every day. The city view was absolutely beautiful and worth the stay alone. Fairly amazing walking past the church just next to the elevators. Overall, very satisfied and would certainly stay there again."

Osaka Excel Hotel Tokyu

Osaka Excel Hotel Tokyu

10/10 Excellent
"A really excellent stay. The room was spotless, the location couldn't be better, and everything worked exactly as expected. The breakfast and the facilities went beyond what I was hoping for. The only small thing, and I mention it only as constructive feedback, is that at one point some of the staff came across as a little distant. Nothing that spoiled the experience, but a warmer welcome would have rounded off a stay that was otherwise flawless. I'd happily recommend it and would stay again."

Centara Grand Hotel Osaka

Centara Grand Hotel Osaka

10/10 Excellent
"The Centara is a beautiful, modern hotel, with everything you could want. Most importantly, it is only a short walk from the Midosuji subway station. This is so important. There is direct access to the subway from the hotel via a skywalk through an outdoor mall. From there, you can take the line straight to Shin Osaka station, and get almost anywhere in Japan from there. If you are serious about traveling around in Japan, you want a quiet, soundproofed hotel with this level of access, and this is it. The staff were friendly and the room was amazing. I had a beautiful view of the city below, as well as a full-size king bed and a wonderful shower and bath. I almost did not want to return to Tokyo (and I regret that I did.)"
