Construction Zone
I have stayed in this hotel several times in past years and generally have liked its comfort and its convenience for travelers on I-85 and I-65. However, the place was a construction zone when I arrived for my stay this year; there was drilling, hammering and other construction noise in the lobby at the time of my arrival. To go to the buffet breakfast the next morning, which is adjacent to the lobby, you had to evade yellow tape and experience unsure footing at the room entrance. The woman who staffs the breakfast area is very helpful, however, and offered a helping hand to me as I stumbled my way in.
On the plus side, the first floor room that I stayed in had been refurbished with all new furnishings including a comfortable new bed. However, there was more noise in the hallway at night from other people than I have experienced in the past. Parking at this relatively small hotel is limited and cramped -- no big parking lot with lots of empty spaces. I also would not feel safe venturing too far from the hotel at night. Although there was a nice restaurant within walking distance last year, that has closed so I had to drive a couple of miles this year to an Olive Garden (suggested by staff) where I had a nice dinner.
I have given this hotel a higher rating than my comments would indicate because I'm sure it will be much improved when construction ends. I have stayed here before when it was a good overnight choice and I'm sure it will be again.
