What was indicated on Hotels.com did not match what I received and experienced and the whole experience was the worst one ever.
Inconvenient/questionable Check-in/registration
After I booked, the hotel sent a text message with TWO links. One for paying a deposit and another for registration.
I understood that there will be a $50 deposit but I never would have agreed to put my credit card info on an unfamiliar website via a text link. I HAD to complete this process before checking in.
Then the registration. This was another website that I had to scan my drivers license AND credit card and enter personal information. I would never agree to provide any personal information via a text link.
I could not back out as I had already paid and needed a place that night.
Unable to check in
There were NINE separate emails about what not to do and what they don’t provide (eg no towels, soap or shampoo) before checking in.
However there was no information about actual check in or my room. Check in was at 4 PM and I did not receive my check in code until 7:41 PM.
In total, I received 14 emails plus
texts and Whatsapp messages regarding my one night stay about different rules and procedures.
Unreasonable check out procedures
I was instructed to take trash outside on the side of the building ($100 penalty for leaving garbage bag outside the door), strip linens and clean the kitchen. I did follow their instructions to avoid fees/penalties.
None of this is mentioned in Hotels.com.
