Super friendly service
The front desk was very friendly and Flexible with my check-in. I have 5 rooms reservation for my group. We have whole day tournaments in York. The hotel manager allowed me to check-in all rooms early at 1pm so that I can give keys to my parties who cannot come to hotel until late evening. Breakfast service is very good and friendly. The breakfast hour is 6-9am. At 9:13AM, the service person was about to remove food. But she asked all guests in the room if anyone wants anything. Also the breakfast area is very clean.

On the day of my arrival I received a call asking me to switch to a double queen from a king. When I said I’d paid for a king and obviously needed it the lady was less than appreciative. Upon my arrival with my service dog (yes a real trained service dog and yes I’m disabled) I was greeted friendly and courteously and checked in. I also asked and made sure the room was ground level and close to handicapped parking and it was. Upon going to my room heading down the hall a member of staff froze in their steps where ch at the time I didn’t think twice about. Well once I was in the room I received a call from the desk stating he didn’t know I had a service dog, remember the dog was my side at check in, and that I needed to come to the desk for another room? I go to the desk and ask what was the issue and am told they had “other rooms” for dogs. Btw this is a non pet friendly hotel. I ask him what’s the difference from the room I’m in and he says it’s for animals as the are unhygienic (smell, shed and cause allergies) and they wouldn’t be able to use the room for several days to allow it to air out! I asked him don’t they clean after a guest stays and he says yes but dogs are different. I explain to him that this sounds like they’re discriminating against me and he says no but says I need to go to the 3rd floor room at the back of the building! Well eventually he relented because other customers were waiting to be helped!

From the moment I walked in the surrounding property, inside the whole hotel as I walked to my room, and my room itself smelled like feet and other oders. I took a shower and whatever body wash and hair products they had left me smelling worse than I had before I got in. I didn’t even bother with the free breakfast because I didn’t trust it at that point. I heard at least two rats crawling through the ceiling above me as I slept. Nice staff but the location was really terrible. Best Western needs to do better

Don't stay here!
Ants around the A/C unit, bugs in the bathroom. The room had a stale, almost sewage type smell that was attempted to be covered up by some type of floral scent.

Not as good as Before
Stayed here twice before and great stay. However, this one was sub par. Shower water temperature continuously drifted from perfect to cooler during duration of showers. Very frustrating. The bed, although comfortable, everytime i sat on bed or got out of bed,, the bed frame support underneath bed made a huge bang noise. Beyond frustrating. May choose another hotel next time

It is a Best Western and you get exactly what you expect from a Best Western. This is not a Hilton or Marriot, and I knew this going in. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, the room was clean and the staff was nice. I would use again.

Decent place to stay, but...
The bed, though comfortable, was a bit high—on a frame with some kind of metal surround. Every time I got in and out of bed, it sounded like someone was hitting a gong—weird! My friend's bed, in a different room, did not have the problem. The window sheers in my room needed to be replaced - torn.
