Overall, our stay was good — the hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and well-kept. The breakfast was great, and every staff member we interacted with during our four-day stay was friendly and professional… except for the experience when we first arrived.
We got to the hotel about an hour before check-in because we were heading to a football game. The woman behind the front desk told us we’d have to wait the hour, which I understood, but when I asked to use the bathroom to get changed, her attitude was rude and dismissive. She spoke under her breath about me, and when I asked what she said, she got defensive and told me she “wasn’t talking to me.” She also told me they “don’t check bags,” but I could “just leave them there,” which didn’t feel secure or professional. She wasn’t in uniform or wearing a name tag and seemed more like she was hanging out than working.
Thankfully, we never saw her again, and everyone else at the hotel was wonderful. Still, that first encounter really set a bad tone for the start of our trip.
