I arrived after travelling for 18hrs from the other side of the world to be welcomed by a receptionist who would not allow me to check in to the hotel as my first name wasn’t on the booking. My husband booked my hotel room for me as he always does, using his Hotels.com app, he sent me the email & booking reference I needed for the checkin (you’d think that would be acceptable) BUT NO! in order for me to check in at The Hyatt Regency San Fransisco, YOUR NAME has to be in the booking - In order for me to check in, I had to call my husband at 2am and wake him up, put him on speaker phone so he could confirm his name (same surname) & the booking reference (same booking ref as per my email doc) in order to check in…apparently this is standard policy. I’m a frequent traveller. Hundreds of trips and NEVER had to do this.
Positives - large hotel room. Gym facilities. Outdoor pool. Large bar to work / relax in, and a free shuttle service from the airport.
Negatives - there is limited food, you can purchase a chicken or turkey baguette for $18 or crisps, chocolate etc etc but nothing non-processed nor chef on site. There are no shops/restaurants nearby to buy something remotely that resembles “food” which seems crazy considering the size of the hotel as it is huge (but empty) there are quite few other hotels in the area, so, I would highly recommend choosing a different hotel.
