What you need to know before you go

The Scottish Highlands are synonymous with rugged, unspoilt landscapes, the infamous Loch Ness Monster and some of Britain’s most impressive castles. The region is also home to Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Scotland, and the largest national park in the United Kingdom.

Inverness, the region’s largest city and cultural capital, boasts landmarks such as a 19th-century castle and Inverness Cathedral. Here, you can try Haggis, Scotland’s national dish, as well as locally caught fresh seafood. During your stay in the Highlands, observe the rolling hills while aboard the Jacobite steam train, and walk along the wall that leads to Eilean Donan Castle.
