Wonderful 3 night stay in Windermere

Had a wonderful 3 night stay at the Saint Johns lodge We had a small double room which was very nice Very clean with nice decor The breakfast is amazing with good quality local produce Rich the owner is very helpful and nothing is too much bother I would definitely recommend this hotel

Great location and excellent service

Excellent location for walking into Windermere and Bowness. Very clean and comfortable room with everything provided for a short stay. The fridge and fresh milk for tea was really appreciated. The breakfast was delicious. Huge amount of cooked options and everything of a high quality.

Perfect location for staying in the Lake District

Situated in a convenient location on the main road between Windermere and Bowness, our stay was amazing. Rich and Ada were brilliant hosts, welcoming and was very helpful. Breakfast was one of the best we've had in the UK and comes with so many different options. We had booked a cost double room but didn't feel that small to be fair. They were cleaned daily and the bed was so comfortable. There is no doubt that if we come back to the Lake District, this would be where we would stay again.

Would recommend

Rich and his wife run a very pleasant guesthouse. They are friendly and helpful. The room has every comfort needed and is cleaned every day unless you ask for it not to be. The breakfast menu is outstanding!

Windermere Long Weekend Stay at St John’s Lodge

We enjoyed a fabulous week end. Rich & Ada were very friendly and helpful, giving lots of advice for getting around, places to visit, including walks to enjoy starting from the hotel. Our room was lovely and the extensive breakfast menu gave fantastic choice.

This place is just brilliant and we stay here now every time we come to Windermere. I recommend here to all my friends and colleagues who look for places to stay. Location is perfect, staff are fantastic, and a peaceful night sleep on offer with beautiful breakfast. What more could you want?

A good location, great breakfast and friendly hosts combined for a lovely stay. I used the health club and went at a quite busy time (after work slot), I would advise visiting outside the peak hours if you can. Facilities at the gym/spa were great, it was just busy and not as clean etc as a result. Overall a great stay and will stay again next time i am in the area.

We have stayed in Windermere a few times but St John’s Lodge is by far the best place we have ever stayed in, excellent accommodation wonderful breakfast and lovely staff. We would highly recommend.

This property is on the Lake Road, a main road that runs from Windermere to Bowness. Bus stops are nearby and fairly frequent and can take you into nearby Windermere, if you don't want to walk, or other parts of the Lake District eg Grasmere. The property itself is lovely, slightly rustic, but I like that 'home from home' feel. Our room (Kingsize) was very well laid out, had useful amenities and quite comfortable. One small gripe, which Richard warned us about, is the wardrobe not closing properly, and it didn't 😞, hopefully it's fixed by now. Breakfast was a feast of pastries, cereal, yoghurt, fruit juices and fresh fruit and a menu for additional hot choices. I couldn't finish my breakfast on the last day (a brekkie kebab), so Ada kindly wrapped it for me to take away. No complaints at all. Thank you Rich and Ada for making our stay very comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for either of you and you and you were both extremely helpful when we asked for information and advice. Adrian & Jo

Amazing

Honestly one of best places I have stayed. Such a lovely area and Richard was amazing. He was very kind and very helpful. Everything was amazing from the room to the breakfast in the morning. Definitely will be planning on staying again. Me and my friend really loved our stay and both agreed to stay again.
