I stayed for 2 nights at the start of the month. The main reason I picked this place was because most modern / biggest hotel brands don’t have baths anymore, and this was one of the only hotels that offered it at a reasonable price in Aberdeen. It’s also very conveniently situated to the train station which is a bonus.
I am a solo female traveller, so I was very spooked when I saw a previous review saying this place was unsafe for people like me. I can sympathise with that reviewer as I felt uncomfortable with there being no peephole cover, only one lock (that didn’t appear very secure anyways) and being right next to a club outside. However, it wasn’t as scary as I expected it. The place was honestly pretty clean, maybe not been deeply cleaned for a while as I moved my single bed closer to the centre of the room and side table and there were a lot of debris and dust under it from previous stayers. The bed sheets and towels were clean, the mattress and kettle looked new, and the windows were double glazed so I really can’t complain for anything but the loud sound from the club outside and some parts of the room needing repaired. The staff were great also, very caring and inquisitive, however one thing that bothered me was the lack of front of desk on Saturday. I went in and out the hotel on Saturday at 9am, back in at about 11am, left at 12:30pm, back at 7pm, out at 8pm, and finally back at 10:45 and still, the front of desk was nowhere to be seen. Quite irresponsible.
