My flight landed pretty early before the check-in time. I reached the hostel and requested to get a bed early so that I can rest. The staff was so kind that looking at my state that they tried their best to get me a bed asap, when all the beds were booked. It was my birthday and they even gave me a drink voucher and took care of me. They were so hospitable and friendly. The rooms were super spacious and clean too. I hung out a lot in the backyard which was super cute and quiet. Will never forget such a memorable experience. One of my best hostel experiences till date.

Very conveniently located - friendly and helpful.
Very conveniently located hostel with friendly and helpful staff! Accomodations are more than correct for the price. A little challenging to find the first time, but that's what smartphone mapping apps are for. As always Europeans can seem dour to American eyes, but at Pfefferbett they were helpful. Just remember it's a hostel and so aimed at the young and restless at heart: Saturday night fun can drag on to the wee hours, so if that's a potential bugbear bring earplugs and/or close the window (but no AC!). Or go for a traditional hotel (or an establishment rated with more stars) instead. Though don't rate in among the "young and restless" any more, had a great September stay at Pfefferbett Thanks!

Currently, I am on my gap year before I embark into a furtber 5 years of university next September and I choose Berlin as my first step and Pfefferbett as my place of rest and it was PHENOMENAL!! I am so so pleased with everything about this hostel, the staff are more than happy to help you, from giving me sinple directions and to printing out on boarding pass for me the night before I left, i couldn't be more happy. I roomed with 4 other people and a bathroom to share between us and the rooms and bathrooms are kept immaculate. It's warm, it's lively and you feel secure and safe which is what i was looking for on my solo travels. A train stop is a 2 minute walk from the hostel and the transportation system in Berlin is amazing, the best I've experienced so far. I was so lucky to have chosen Pfefferbett, it not only gave me a great start to my travels but I was roomed with another solo traveller who became my buddy and I'm so grateful to have been bunked with. If you're looking for a place to rest your head in Berlin, Pfefferbett is the place!

A Really Nice Hostel with a Mission
There are many, many, many things to love about this hostel. It is perfectly located to see Berlin's sites, convenient to U2 line, walking distance to AlexanderPlatz, lots of shops, restaurants, and grocery stores. The place is spotless, really nice bathroom facilities, and comfortable beds. The lounge area has a cozy fireplace, pool table and lots of seating. Breakfast with fruits, yogurt, meats and cheeses. All of the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Even as a 60+ year guest, I felt welcome. The other aspect of the entire Pfefferwerk compound was that it includes social programming to help folks to train for jobs. I stayed in both a double room and then switched to a single room. If you are going to stay in the single room, ask about where it is in the hostel. I stayed in Rm 08 which is the only guest room in a small corridor with the luggage storage closet and staff office. It was a spacious room, specifically designed for someone with physical disability; but its location was loud and felt odd. The double room on the 3rd floor was really nice (although I could have used a light over the mirror in the room). The beds are two separate twin mattresses on a double platform. Fine if the person you are sharing with is someone you know well, a bit odd if you end up having to share with a stranger. Upper bunks in the dorm rooms are really high. Only real negative for me was the wifi signal - worked fine w/ phone but couldn't get laptop to connect

I enjoyed my stay at the hostel. I had a private room but, it was very clean, the food was great, and the staff were always willing to help. Will definitely be going back.

Great hostel, very neat and the staff was fantastic. Their breakfast is great and it's definitely a plus to have the 24/7 bar. Super vibe overall. I had a single room and they had provided the towels, linen and some of the toiletries. It was all clean and comfortable.

The best hostel I've ever been to
I've seen many hostels but this one is special. Great common room with fireplace and restaurant and bar, a great place to socialize or to relax with hot wine and a book. Breakfast is good and affordable. The staff is absolutely amazing, the type of people that create the perfect atmosphere around them. And just as an anecdote - I got refunded most of the price of breakfast because someone disinformed me about the time it ends and I had 'only' 20 minutes to eat instead of 50. I tried to refuse but they absolutely insisted on it.

Good hostel but no self-serve food options
Pros: close to subway station and within walking distance of some of the main sites. Hostel reasonably clean and secure. Staff friendly and helpful. Fantastic breakfast; options for all-you-can eat or cheaper / limited. Cons: noisy in halls at times. No place to cook, heat, or refrigerate your own food- just the hostel's bar / restaurant.

Best hostel in Berlin
Had a fantastic stay at Pfefferbett! The location is great for seeing Berlin, and I was even offered a room upgrade for free! The best part about this hostel is the common area though. There is a pool table, a bar and restaurant with very well-priced food and drinks available throughout the day, and a beautiful garden to sit in. The staff are also really great :) Highly recommend!

Great stay! Great staff!
There was a group of kids staying when I was there who made it awful. Once they left it was peaceful and chill. Everything was great except no WiFi in the rooms and in the common area it was unreliable. The sweet potato fries are delicious:) They'll hold your luggage. Even allow you to shower after you've checked out if need be.

Everything a hostel should be
Great hostel with a lot of personality and energy that seems like a perfect fit for its surroundings and the neighborhood it calls home. I can't speak to the dorm rooms, but the private rooms were very clean, comfortable, and had all the necessary amenities (plus other bonus appreciated ones), and was one of the best rooms I've had in a hostel. The staff was friendly and helpful and they offered all the services I could have asked for. Directly across from a subway entrance, but was a bit hard to find the hostel at first off the main street -- it's tucked back into a private courtyard-type area and can be found by going up the stairs into what's marked as the Pfefferbett Restaurant entrance. The place has a lot of energy and the bar was full until later in the evening, but that's to be expected of any good hostel. Overall, it was a great stay for a fair price and I'd be happy to stay there again next time I'm in Berlin.
