Go to the night food market near the morning market area called Daimon. There is a wonderful collection of small yatai stalls with excellent local food, and people are all just having a good time. No better place to enjoy quality local fare.

Being on the coast, Hakodate has excellent fresh seafood, as well as everything else that Hokkaido is famous for, like delicious ramen, creamy dairy products, and amazing produce.

It surprises us really, before we go we didn't know much or expect much of it, but it is a small quiet chill town has a lot to offer. Make sure you hike up to the top of Mt. Hakodate, we did and you should too,,

3 or 4 days is enough time in Hakodate. Views are great from Mount Hakodate observatory - but very busy at night! No one there during the day.

Hakodate is great location and tourist destination site if you simply want to enjoy gems of local foods and prefecture's trademark meals. Not really suitable for youngsters that prefer entertainment, so you will see elders that you should respect.

I really appreciate the feel of a smaller ocean town coming from the northern California Bay Area. Although we only explored a fraction of the city in our short time there, I felt that the city has a lot to offer and I will most definitely return.

During my visit there was an earthquake and tsunami warning for the area. The staff was able to set me and my family at ease with information and kind words.

Hakodate is a must see. You hear a lot of talk about the seafood and it's true. However, I would've like to see more fatty Maguro.

It is a beautiful town with a lot of historical site to visit. Easy access to immediate area to wonder around.
"This hotel has a good seafood buffet breakfast as well as a free sight seeing bus. If you’d like to go the night viewing of Mt. Hakodate on the free bus, you need to reserve for the weekends, well in advance. We went for the sunset viewing only on the free bus. Very friendly and staff. The coin laundry was easy to use and cashless. There is also a very convenient grocery store behind the hotel and a few minutes from the Hakodate train station. "
