Adorable inn in an adorable town

This inn is adorable and perfectly located in the middle of a walkable area. The hardest part was finding parking before checking in (and then moving my car to the right spot post-check in). I was greeted with the most amazing cookies, and a table with the room keys, but never actually met an employee other than food servers.

The horel has no reception desk. You find your keys on a table as you enter. Our room had a double bed instead of the king bed that we booked. There was no one to talk to about it. No A/C and it was searing hot. No ice available. No parking right there.

Charming stay in San Anselmo

My friend lives a short walk to the hotel so how I picked this place. My friend and I had dinner at Valenti which was excellent and I had breakfast with another friend at Comfort's which is next door. The town is adorable and the hotel is charming. I loved the cookies by the entrance. Breakfast was lovely on my second day. Fresh fancy fruit!

A hidden gem, Boutique Hotel

While this charming little boutique hotel was quaint, the check in process was weird because there is no front desk nor staff. They leave a key in an envelope on a side table in a hallway next to an open door for the restaurant people. Room was clean. Toilet leaked when you flushed, shower wall needed to be replaced but they did have everything you need. Extra blankets, pillows, fans in your room. Complimentary breakfast in the morning was mediocre but we found a cute restaurant for breakfast. It wasn't what we thought it would be but we made the most of it.

A little worn, could do with being redecorated, bathroom updating, and so on. No daily housekeeping unless guests request it during a limited time in the afternoon when they are likely to be out. Odd. Can’t put anything in the housekeeping tip envelope if there isn’t any! However, very convenient and acceptable in all other respects.

Historic Inn is sure to Delight!

Wonderful slice of history in San Anselmo that also pays homage to Star Wars’ creator George Lucas who is a resident in this community. Very peaceful setting and walkable to a variety of nice restaurants and shops. Breakfast was delightful.

Massive Disappointment

Extremely disappointed! Thought I had booked a cute, well-maintained, converted historical building. Instead, I walked into what can be best described as a nice hostel. The patio and restaurant were closed. There was no reception - our room key was on a table in an envelope with my name on it. The building had an old, musty odor. Our room faced the alley so we were woken up by trash trucks emptying dumpsters. It was smaller than our son’s room. The bathroom was atrocious. Overall, the advertised pictures were seriously deceptive.
Less than 3ft on either side of the bed. Just enough room to open the door.
Sink behind the room door and next to the tv was 4ft from the bed.
Building location is great but San Anselmo is a sleepy DT that doesn’t open until 11am and with a tiny, uncomfortable room that makes for a disappointing experience.
