Our stay at the Shijo Takakura Hotel grandreverie was great! It was the most memorable room of our trip to Japan, a great design and lots of space. The stone shower and bathtub were especially luxury. The staff was incredibly attentive. It's the one place we'd immediately go again!

The hotel was amazing with a tub that I used to relax in after walking several miles. The only thing I could complain about is that there was not a stool in the bathroom to sit while I showered but other than that the hotel was perfect in every way.

The hotel is small-ish but the room is definitely big enough for a great stay! My wife and daughter and myself stayed in the delux twin room for 5 nights and had a great time. It’s a few mins away from Shijo train station and buses as well as an easy walk to Gion and Nishiki market. Our room was spacious and had great amenities. The hotel is conveniently located close to very happening street near the bus stops and Daimaru department store. Hotel itself is very clean and the room is spacious, and the front desk is very helpful. There's only one thing the guests need to be aware of, the bathroom of family suite is located in the lower level of the room and the stairs might be little bit steep for older people, that's something to consider if you are traveling with seniors.

Breakfast is basically an airline tray of food (likely made elsewhere) and is identical each day. The coffee is not drinkable. We had a major problem with one of our rooms on the first night that made the room unusable until the problem was rectified, and no compensation was offered.
