Charming boutique hotel, great value
The Alexander Inn is a charming, boutique hotel. All staff were friendly and provided great customer service. I stayed in the personal single twin room. It had a great street view, was a decent size, and had everything I needed for solo travel. Clean room and comfortable bed. A couple toiletries (bar soap, shampoo) hadn't been replenished, but it was okay since I pack my own, and I'm sure housekeeping would have brought more if I had requested. TV was old, and many channels came in with a lot of static; thankfully I found a few channels without static and worth watching. The room started out super warm (I couldn't tell if this was due to central heating that I could not control), so I set the room HVAC unit to AC to offset the heat. The unit was fairly loud but ended up being like white noise during the night, and I was able to sleep through it. This might bother other guests if they're light sleepers. Continental breakfast had a decent selection (yogurts, hardboiled eggs, croissants, bagels, pumpkin bread), and coffee was very good. The breakfast room was charming, although the chairs could have been more comfortable (more cushion). Overall, the personal single twin room was a great value, especially with breakfast included. The hotel is in a great location, walking distance to everything I wanted to visit!

Nice, inexpensive, clean place
My daughter and I just stayed overnight and arrived late, so we didn't get to take advantage of the evening social hour. We were impressed with the cleanliness and the thoughtfulness of putting an extension cord in the room (since we always have devices to charge). The "breakfast" was continental, and would be fine for just a quick snack, but lacked protein, so I wouldn't count on it as a real breakfast. The staff was great. The proximity to Jefferson University was wonderful and it was easy to find.

Staff was just fantastic. Everyone was very friendly and willing to help in any way. Hotel could use some updates. Older bathroom and no thermostat to control temperature, for instance. It was certainly good for the price and convenient!

A nice find with character
Alexander Inn is a friendly independent small hotel. The rooms and all are very clean and well-kept. If you a place with character more than a new sterile design, this hotel fits the bill. Breakfast is a little spare but functional. The people working at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. This is my second time at this hotel, I like it and it is a good value.

Pretty Decent...But That Water Pressure...
The Alexander Inn was just about perfect for my needs: I was seeing a friend in Philadelphia after almost 15 years and needed to be in that area. It is reasonably priced. The guy at check in was chill and personable. I like the complimentary wine-and-charcuterie event in the lounge from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM each day (I didn't partake, but it's welcoming, just the same). The room was just as I expected, nothing fancy but absolutely functional and comfortable. The ONE area crying out for improvement: WATER PRESSURE. I turned on the shower and thought "Am I being punked?!" It was a sad trickle, so weak that I almost considered going without showers while there, because there's no way that "pressure" could even remove soap or shampoo. Maybe it can be improved, maybe it can't, but guys, let people know ahead of time. It was something you might expect from a one-star, eastern European hostel...not a respectable hotel in downtown Philly.

Great stay in a lovely mid-range hotel
The Alexander Inn is cute boutique hotel in a great neighborhood in the heart of Center City. Our room was comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly. The Inn is also pet friendly so we were able to bring our small dog with no issue.

We liked it and so did our dog!
This classic hotel is near a lot of wonderful restaurants and shops. It was clean, convenient and the free happy hour was a great way to meet other travelers and wind down. We give it two thumbs up and I think our dog would give it four paws 🐾🐾
