I was in the Bad Vilbel Area and needed a place to stay for a few days on short notice. Picked this based on good reviews and the fact that it has a pub associated with. Which, by the way is phenomenal.
Turned out it was a good choice and I will gladly come back on future travel. Most hotels in rural areas of Germany (and don’t be fooled, technically the hotel is in Frankfurt but that suburb is as rural as it gets) are equivalent to low budget hotels in the US. The Alte Scheune is inside an old traditional German country house, and the rooms are rustic in style but the woods looked all totally new. No frills but great WiFi, large TV, nice bathroom. No key card instead a big brass room key. I didn’t see A/C, pretty sure they don’t have any, few German hotels do. No lift, you will have to take stairs to get to your room. Staff was SUPER friendly and accommodating. Breakfast buffet is traditional German, with plenty of options. Parking is extremely limited but I had no problems finding street parking. And a car (or us of a cab) is pretty much a must, as public transportation into Frankfurt is possible but requires combinations of busses and subways, none convenient.
