Arrived for check-in at 1:15, we were told there would be a $20 charge or wait until 2. We waited until 2 and no luggage carts available due to a wedding. I have a bad leg and it was painful to make 3 trips. There was no ice machine on floor 12. I asked for a second ice bucket since we would have to go to another floor to get ice. I asked housekeeping on the floor and they told me to call the front desk. I did and then mentioned no carts and instead of an apology, I was told I should have waited for one. Shortly afterwards, we discovered our safe did not work. Somebody had removed the batteries. Housekeeping did deliver the batteries. Personally, I believe the staff knew they had a wedding, their should have been some leeway on check-in to accommodate guests. Secondly, I believe an apology was all needed by the front desk, not a lecture on me waiting until the wedding party was checked in. My wife and I do not make it to Blackhawk very often, but we have always looked at Ameristar for our stay. In the future I will broaden our search and will certainly look for different accommodation's. We typically do not stray from the premises therefore giving all our money to Ameristar. I realize we are not going to make your company rich, but we are loyal customers and do not look to see if the grass is greener elsewhere. Thank you for letting me air my dislike. It was a celebration of our 29th anniversary. Needless to say, we managed to enjoy our anniversary despite the issues stated.
