Key?!?

This is a nice hotel and a good location. The rooms were a good size for Europe. The only thing that I found kind of sketchy is they have you leave the key at the front desk when you go out it is a card key, but it is on a huge tassel that is heavy so it doesn’t make sense to carry it. The part I didn’t like was whenever we showed up we just asked for a room key and they gave it to us. They didn’t check our name on the reservation or something so I was single women traveling. I felt not as safe that anyone could just come ask for our room key Something to be aware of the tubs are very curved so there’s not really a flat spot and they are high up so you might wanna make sure you request a shower if you’re with someone who has stability issues or has trouble lifting their leg up.

Location is wonderful. Service very helpful.

Very conveniently location; just steps from everything we wanted to see. Perhaps most people absolutely love the old world charm. But I found the rooms small and inconveniently laid out and a bit of an overload. Service was 100% nice and helpful.

The perfect place to stay in central Amsterdam

This charming hotel strikes the perfect balance between comfort and timeless elegance, with traditional decor that gives each room a warm, inviting character. What a beautiful and quaint hotel in a great location. My European vacation included stays in five different hotels and this was my favorite by far. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable.Free pastries, candy and an open coffee bar was a pleasant surprise. The breakfast buffet was also our favorite. And the two resident cats were adorable!!! I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to my friends and family.

Good hotel except for one big thing

I really enjoyed most aspects of this hotel. The location is great; it’s close to a lot of top attractions and is near public transportation to access other attractions. The decor is a little old school, but with a lot of fun touches. The AC works really well on hot days and the snacks in the lobby (and the cat) are nice, unique touches. However, the hotel asks you to leave the key at the front desk before you leave the hotel and it feels very unsecure. You can come back and ask for any key and they’ll just give it to you. No one checks to make sure you’re getting the key to the right room, so if someone really wanted to ask for your key and steal your stuff they could. Also, if you are trying to retrieve your key when a lot of people are checking in or out, it could take upwards of ten minutes to get the key back. It’s a truly horrible system and might prevent me from staying here in the future. Also, the only reason they have this system is because they attach big tassels to the key cards, which is not even necessary. So this cumbersome, unsafe system just exists because of an aesthetic choice with the keys.
