I stayed at the SpringHill Suites Hampton Coliseum last Sunday while visiting Hampton University. Unfortunately, the experience was not what I expected from a Marriott property. While the front desk staff were pleasant and helpful, the condition of the hotel was poor.
The lobby was very dark, even during breakfast service, which made it feel more like a budget motel than a Marriott. My room had peeling paint on the walls, stained and worn carpet, a stained bathtub, and broken bodywash/shampoo dispensers ripped from the wall. The overall cleanliness felt lacking, and the low lighting throughout the property only added to the dingy atmosphere.
For the price and the Marriott name, I expected much better. This hotel badly needs renovation and better upkeep. I would not stay here again.
