The staff, the staff, the staff. The Nannies were wonderful, the entire dining staff was great, and although the property needs some upgrades it is lovely. This was my son’s (13 yr old) favorite of many travel trips

We stayed at FDR exactly 1 year ago and my children still bring it up every single week. The facility is very humble so if you’re looking for white walls and glass everything this is not for you. But if you want a humble quaint environment where the staff makes you feel like family give FDR a shot. My kids (11,9,5) loved the water slide and our nanny Tamara. They still talk about how much they miss her often. Shenille did the boat tours. He was so kind and gracious and took us multiple times to fish, spear fish and snorkel. He even coordinated for the chefs to cook the fish we caught for us straight from the ocean. You see the owner, Christian, often and every time he remembers you and your name and is truly invested is your experience at his hotel. The food: it was different than most all inclusive experiences in that there is a menu and it’s not a free for all buffet but that did not bother us as they are very accommodating. I have a gluten allergy and they made me a special dinner similar to my families every single meal. Everything is fresh and hot as they cook it specifically for you. We did not have a single thing we did not like. The thing about this hotel that is unlike any other is the location. The snorkeling in unmatched. Bring a mask and snorkel. We saw every single sea animal you can imagine right off the beach. Even dolphins on our last morning at breakfast. This hotel and Jamaica will forever have a piece of our hearts.

Celebrated my son 5th Birthday which he enjoyed. The staff were amazing very kind. Our nanny Ms.P was the best. Definitely would return.

FDR is a family oriented resort. It's a bit dated, and is closer to what I now have learned is the vacated Hedonism 1 resort. However, the food is excellent, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. There's are simple amenities there. Of note I did the SCUBA with Mr.Fruity and that was a highlight. It's far away from Negril and Mo Bay so didn't really experience much of a night life, but on this particular venture it was more about health and serenity than that. I took a car over to 9 mile and Dunns River. Not to many local things to get into. That said. I had a great ocean view room. And it was a very pleasant trip. Thanks FDR.

Ideal for a peaceful restful stay

Lovely boutique hotel with family friendly service. Beach on property is not the best for swimming but great beaches are literally next door. Food and service is great, with rooms/suites conveniently fitted with small fridge and microwave. Furniture could use some updates. Nanny service and activities for kids is a big plus.

Run-down hotel

This is the first all inclusive resort I stayed at where there is a food menu with limited options: one appetizer option, one dessert option. Dinner: choice 1 fish, 1 meat and 1 chicken. First night we had dinner, my husband ordered the only fish - salmon and it was all gone and I ordered the only appetizer soup and that was done too. We were upset so they were able to find another fish to make for us. Dessert was cheesecake that none of my family ate so we didn’t get dessert. Second night we didn’t eat at the resort. Third night, again very limited options. The bathrooms were dirty and in the second bedroom stains were in the toilet which was extremely disgusting. Soap nor shampoo was in the second bathroom. My son didn’t even want to stay at the hotel and left one of the nights. This was very disappointing especially after spending so much money. Only one restaurant is operational and not three as advertised. Also, gym is different than pictures on the website. The equipment was dirty, old and rusty. The service was exceptional. The people were friendly and tried to accommodate us. It took me awhile to write this review because it is no way a reflection of the employees. They were fantastic. It’s a shame that this is a run-down place.

The included Nanny's for your stay are amazing!! Shout out Cynthia and Dennicia!! They were the best! The resort is a little older and could use some updates. But, with that said; Everything else was absolutely amazing. I cannot say enough positive things about the food, the service, the staff, the availability of activities (interactive or self led). Everybody was so friendly and helpful with our kids (we came with tour 1 year old twins and our 5 year old daughter). The staff works very hard to ensure everybody is enjoying their stay. The owner and his son even came by while we were eating a few times during our stay to check in with us and see how things were going. This is just not something you find at a large corporate run resort. By the time you leave you really start to feel part of the FDR family, you know the staff by their names and they know your whole family's names as well! We met multiple people who had visited multiple times and I must say we are definitely already looking to come back! Thank you FDR and everybody there for making our first real vacation as a family of five a memorable one! We'll hopefully see you all next year with some of our friends and their kids!

Wonderful vacation. We were welcomed with a plate of food and a fresh drink upon arrival after traveling for 12 hours. It was such a thoughtful touch and set the tone for our entire time. Many reviews comment on the dated property. It is very functional, very very clean and comfortable. I would not let those reviews deter you. A very wholesome fun family vacation and I will definitely be back.

The property has the potential to be beautiful, but it needs serious repairs. There is no ventilation in the room I was in, so because of this, the condensation of the warm water would build up and cause the walls to sweat. The staff were wonderful and accommodating. The food and drinks were delicious. I was a solo traveler, and I felt safe on the property.
