Good, but very pricy

We chose this hotel for its close proximity to Capitol Reef National Park—and in that regard, it certainly delivers. The property also makes a strong first impression online, with an eye-catching website and solid presence on platforms like Hotels.com. Our room exceeded expectations: the beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was modern and well-appointed. No complaints there. The hotel markets itself as a resort, and it does offer some unique touches that elevate the experience. While some of the more distinctive features—like the tepee and covered wagon accommodations—weren’t available during our spring visit, they look like they’d be a real highlight in the summer months. Bottom line: if you’re after convenience and a resort-style stay near Capitol Reef, this is a solid choice. However, considering the rate we paid, it’s worth shopping around—unless those extra amenities and the resort vibe are exactly what you’re looking for.

Disappointing old resort

Hotel is definitely in need of updating, all around. Rooms are sized okay but linens are old, rough. Very poor quality cosmetics. I would guess this hotel has not invested in any updates for more than 20 years. Front desk staff are cranky, cleaners more friendly and cooperative. I think you can do better than this for a stay in Torrey.

A Mixed Bag

Pros: This is beautifully situated. The views from the pool area are superb, and quite magically catch great light for both sunrise and sunset. Sitting poolside with my feet in the pool watching the red hued rocks as the sun set was wonderful. The rooms are also pretty cozy. And the front office staff were professional and kind. Cons: There's a sense of this place being held together by the seams. A few things not working. Each time I was in the front office, someone had a legit complaint about something. Annoying that even though it wasn't full, they seemed to give us the room with the least view possible. Worst was the restaurant, where they took our order, then the manager asked us, about 45 mins later, what we ordered, went away, and realized it was never entered. They owned up to the error, but never actually *apologized* for it, and wasted 45 mins of our time. On balance, that view would bring me back, but they really should stop skating on the view, and should try to work out the few nasty kinks in the system.

Great location, very near the park. Our room was nice, but there was a funny smell. The hot tub jets were not working, and I don't know if the filtration system was working either. There were many dead flies in the water.

This was a fantastic Resort. The staff were so friendly and very helpful with our questions-needs. We arrived at 7:00 pm to find the restaurant would close at 7:30 so we were able to get dinner (Remember this is February and it was dark at 6:00 pm) The room was very comfortable with all the amenities plus an extra pillow and 2 blankets. The next morning we enjoyed another delicious meal in the restaurant and the majestic views of Capital Reef. We will be back and this is where we will stay!!!

Capital Reef stay

The location of the hotel to Capital Reef couldn't be better and the view spectacular. The staff was great and the room comfortable and cozy. The only problem we had was with the TV functionality. Despite the best efforts by their AV guy it became frustrating to work with but since we were wore out from our sight seeing full day we didn't need the TV much anyway. Hopefully they got it rectified for the next individuals.

These people were incredible, I forgot my insulin in their refrigerator and they mail it back and it arrived safe and sound. The food was good the room was fine . I enjoyed my stay. Thank you again guys.
