It was easy and pleasant to arrive at the hotel late in the evening, and the front desk staff were very welcoming.
The room was clean and well-equipped in my opinion. The small kitchenette was a nice bonus. While the room was compact, as expected, it wasn’t an issue for us since we were traveling with just carry-on bags. However, with two people and two standard-sized suitcases, space might have been tight. Still, the room size was what we expected for a Manhattan hotel in this price range. We enjoyed the city views from the 20th floor.
The air conditioning was a bit loud, but we didn’t need it in October and simply turned it off at night. The door didn’t block hallway noise very well, but since there were few rooms per floor, we didn’t experience much disturbance. Still, I’d recommend bringing earplugs just in case. Special mention goes to the exceptionally comfortable beds!
Breakfast was also good; it was fairly simple, as expected, but enough to get the day started without needing to worry about finding food right away.
We stayed for six days, and the central location along with the nearby subway made exploring New York City easy. Almost all of Manhattan was accessible by walking from the hotel.
The nightly rate was high, but it was in line with the general price level for the area, if not slightly below, so I felt it was fair value for money.
Overall, I would gladly recommend TownePlace Suites as a mid-range city lodging option for 1-2 people with carry-on bags only
