I loved that this is a very historic hotel, still has an original Otis elevator that the bell man takes you up on. Loved the pretty lobby and old fashioned feel but I was disappointed by our room.
I booked one of the nicest suites with a king bed, it was a larger room and was supposed to come with a complimentary bottle of wine and a garden view. We did not receive either. Our view was of an ugly roof air conditioning vent system and there was no bottle of wine, when I asked the front desk, they just said sorry there was a mistake, no wine for us! The biggest issues were, the gross, pungent smell in our room, we had to buy a candle and light it to take away the smell, or at least mask it. Our room door was old and separated from the frame so we could hear everyone in the hallway slamming doors and talking as they went to their rooms. The disgusting carpets need to be replaced. That would help the smell. The rooms need updating. I don’t know if I’d stay here again.
