Our new favourite hotel in Cape Town
We have stayed at the V and A waterfront before and the Commodore combines great location, great value for money, nice spacious rooms (junior suite), good food and in depth quality of staff. The hotel is a safe, level 5 minute walk from the V and A waterfront. They not only managed to get us checked in before the official time, but front desk, bell staff, cleaning staff particularly were well above average. When we checked in the staff were a little apologetic that some guests find the themed decor dated and old fashioned. This is nonsense. If it is clean, well maintained and tasteful it is not a negative it is a positive. The Commodore hotel has character! We will be back next year.

The exec floor corner rooms offer an incredible view. Nice lunch and gym was well equipped. Room service was awful and despite saying it was awful I wasn’t offered a refund. Save your money and eat at the Time Out market really close to the hotel.

Old and dated - not worth the money!
It’s very old and dated.. it’s not just that it looks old and bad, things didn’t work. Door handles were broken, the shower didn’t drain etc. The aircon was from the 80s so you couldn’t use it during the night since it was like having a jet engine in the room. The service was very very slow. Save your money, it’s definitely not worth it!
