Check-in was a bit off & then I was given a room that was not cleaned - Gross! The 2nd room was clean & OK. The overall condition of the building was poor.

The exterior of the hotel is in bad shape. Ice machine was “out of order” for the 4 days that I stayed in the hotel. I ended up having to buy ice for my small cooler as I am diabetic and need my medicine refrigerated. Staff smoke cigarettes just outside the lobby door. Just outside of the lobby door, it reeks of cigarette smell as well as marijuana odor. I stayed here several times in the past. I don’t plan on staying here again.

Every hotel was full so I found myself at the Red Roof Inn. My expectations were appropriately softened but I was pleasantly surprised by the very nice guy that checked me in. After walking past a lady holding an infant while smoking a cigarette inches from its face, I found my room which was overall clean and pleasant. The wooden floors were a welcomed site for cleanliness reasons. The bed looked like it was made in a hurry but was super comfortable and I actually slept better here than I have in 5-star hotels. To the cleanliness. It might have been a fluke but they basically skipped cleaning the bathroom. There was urine staining the seat of the toilet and the old bar of soap from the prior guest sitting in the soap dish. Yuck. Clearly overlooked but if they forget such basics I can’t imagine that the surfaces that *appeared* sort of clean were approaching any level of sanitation. In short, I was not stabbed and got bo bed bugs. Great sleep. Dirty bathroom.

Next to motel are two empty department stores that went out of business. That is not the hotel's fault. Nor are the homeless people in the area. The rest they could have done something about: Safety lock was broken. I would have asked for a new room but they were completely full. That night when we moved a chair in front of the door, we found a dirty sock, a penny, clods of dirt and tons of dust. At that point, I started looking at the cleanliness carefully and soon realized that the bathroom floor had not really been cleaned either. Small amounts of hair and a bit of paper were all along the edges. I think they only clean major, glaringly filthy, areas. Point in their favor: When I told the front desk clerk at check out, he seemed genuinely concerned about getting the safety lock repaired immediately. Would I stay again? Probably not.

The experience was disappointing from the beginning. Upon checking in we were told that our room was on 2nd floor, but elevator wasn't working. We took everything up the steps to our room and realized there wasn't a fridge, microwave, iron, or ironing board. For our stay, which was for a funeral, these were essentials. We called the office, was told they would chk and get back with us. No one called, so we went back to the office. We were given a room on the 3rd floor. I asked if that room would hve iron and ironing board and was told no, but she gave us a scorched iron and a mini bent up metal board for ironing. So as not to risk ruining our clothes for the funeral, we bought an iron. Then we moved everything to the 3rd floor (no elevator) and found that the room had a full size ironing board and iron! Upset that we wasted our time and tired, we just wanted to rest. Not happening! The toilet was stopped up, the furniture was dirty and sticky, and the walls were dirty. Had to go back to office for plunger, and buy cleaning supplies to clean the room. On top of all of this, every night we returned to the room the key didnt work...requiring a trip to the office. Though exhausted from all that's involved in preparing to bury a loved one, we had to walk back down from the third floor to the office. When trying to purchase a movie in the room, guess what? Another trip to the office, from the 3rd floor, no elevator!

Check in was quick. Ground floor room. Walked in and smelled bad. Clothes and bags smelled next day. Appliances needed cleaning and sink had issues. No other rooms available when asked. A/C ran cold and bed was comfortable.

Stayed here to save some money. You get what you pay for. Understand that this property was short staffed because it is currently difficult to hire help. Ok for the night.

The lady checking us into our room last night had no personality, seemed like she hated life, and was just rude. Walked into our room and looked like house keeping had not cleaned at all. There was zero towels in our room. When we went down to ask the lady for some, her response was, "We're short staffed. Noone's doing laundry." The bathroom was absolutely disgusting.. Spiders were crawling on the wall above the toilet. Someone else's dirty underwear hanging on the back of the door. Someone else's hair all over the shower wall. Only positive experience was the lady who checked us out of our room this morning. I told her about our experience. She was very understanding and apologetic and is going to have her manger accommodate us. She told us that another person on the third floor who checked out this morning as well, also complained that their rooms were dirty and there were dirty sippy cups under their beds. Sad we weren't the only person with an awful experience. As people who travel often, this is absolutely the worst hotel we've ever stayed in. Will not be returning, and highly do not recommend!!

I had a few requests that were handled immediately. The remote control didn't work well so within 10 minutes the Maintenance Man brought a brand new one up to my room =;))) Also I requested extra toilet paper daily and the cleaning staff were on it and I tipped them well for their fast service and kindness =;))) On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give my stay at the Red Room Inn an 11. Thank You All Very Much =;)))
