The main reason for choosing this hotel was for the swimming pool and hot tub. Upon checking in, I found out both had been drained. Also there was to be breakfast which was not available on Monday morning, not that it was worth eating Saturday or Sunday.

The hotel smelled like Glade PlugIns trying to cover up old chlorine and mold. The wood on the staircase rails was coming apart and unsafe. Our window didnt lock so we had to make a block so we felt safe. There was a dirty towel in our bathroom and the front desk person didn't charge us correctly for the deposit which resulted them in double charging our card and not informing us until check out. Customer Service standards are an all time low at this place.

The pillows were disgusting as was tub. But the pillows, all 4, disusting. Felt dirty.

The place is run down, worn out, and dirty. Was worried about fleas and bed bugs so when a huge spider ran across the floor I was done. Very gross place.

Not impressed
One of the reasons for booking this hotel was because it said it had a pool. Checked in and the sign on the front desk stated the pool was permanently closed. The floor corners were dirty and gross. The remote didn't work. Pulled out the nightstand to use the plug, and it hadn't been vacuumed in a long time. The breakfast wasn't much of anything; the apple juice was gross, and the creamer had chunks in it. Very dissatisfied.

The property was not responsible for my poor rating. Expedia itself is responsible for this poor rating. The staff at Baymont were very helpful. But when we arrived, there was no record of our reservation. Which was frustrating as I had made the reservation and paid for it a year prior. Trying to get a hold of someone at Expedia to get the room rebooked was a disaster. After having been on the road for over 12 hours already we had to back track an hour to the new place. It was a terrible experience and honestly, I am not sure that we will use Expedia again in the future if this is the experience that we can expect.

Only complaint I have is that we chose that hotel because it said it had a swimming pool. I guess technically it does just with no water in it or the jacuzzi.Was not the only family with children that stayed there for that reason. Also found out that it had been empty for 2 years now.

Our room was very dirty. It was a non smoking room but smelled like smoke. The TV only had 5 channels and there were no instructions on how to get access to streaming or additional channels. Very disappointed in our stay. I have had excellent stays at other Baymonts so I was looking forward to this one. Spending over $300 and getting a crappy room was not ideal.

Had reservations and confirmation numbers got there and they couldn’t find me, I showed them the booking info they said that I need to call the third party I booked with, I did and Expedia called them and told Expedia that they would not honor the price that I had booked for over six months ago which we planned this out so we could go to Sturgis 85th the staff didn’t care to call the manager to see what they could do they just kept saying not their problem so after two and half hours on the phone with Expedia I got another room 11 miles away from spearfish. I just know if a hotel is going to work with a third party that if something happens on either ends that they should honor it no matter what because that was the price then. Expedia got me a hotel for the price I booked for and it wasn’t a bad hotel. But the principle of it all is practice good business dont be so cold to people who travelled for two days and dump bad news on them and not even try to help.
