I stayed for one night due to attending an event in Nottingham City. The entrance to the hotel is lovely, modern, and well maintained. However, the room was a different matter. The air conditioning didn't work (it was centrally set to "eco mode" which meant you couldn't switch it to air conditioning) and the room was very hot. Some of the furniture was old and in need of some TLC. I had an internal facing room, and after getting to the room I could hear staff in the courtyard below my window talking loudly and swearing. Due to the hotness of the room, I left the window slightly open overnight; however, the noise from other rooms was constant. All night from midnight to 5am, drunk people were up and down the corridor outside my room shouting, swearing, and banging on doors. I attempted to contact reception; however, no one answered the phone. I've had good experiences at the Mercure Nottingham City Centre; however, this stay has left A LOT to be desired. At check out, staff didn't ask how the stay had been.
