South Padre Island is a barrier island and resort town off the southern coast of Texas offering many beaches, nature experiences, history and amusement parks. At the South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center, visitors can climb a 5-storey watchtower to view flocks of migrating birds, while at the South Padre Island Dolphin Research & Sealife Nature Center, kids will get the opportunity to pet sea life in touch tanks as well as take boating tours. Sea Turtle, Inc. is a rescue and rehabilitation centre offering a chance to view these unique creatures up close.
For traditional family fun, Gravity Park offers go-karts, thrill and theme rides, food, games and entertainment for all. Campsites for RVs can be found at Andy Bowie County Park, while the Laguna Madre Nature Trail offers hiking in a serene natural park. The Port Isabel Lighthouse State Historic Site offers a climb up a historic lighthouse with fantastic panoramic views.
