Mammoth Lakes is a town in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California and famed for its iconic ski areas, nature hiking regions and national monuments. The Mammoth Mountain Ski Area and June Mountain Ski Area are particularly iconic, offering many amenities in upscale yet family-friendly surroundings. The Devils Postpile National Monument is just a stone’s throw from town and hosts a stunning formation of natural basalt columns and the cascading and towering Rainbow Falls. Mono Lake to the north provides a saltwater mountain lake with limestone towers.

Also just minutes away is Yosemite National Park, known for giant and ancient sequoia trees and stark granite cliffs. Convict Lake has its dramatic surroundings and history as a base for escaped convicts in the 19th century. Woolly’s Tube Park and Snow Play is a family-friendly sport and adventure park. Those looking for a healing or romantic experience will head for Shepherd Hot Springs with its dramatic views.
