Everything about The Richard was great. We really enjoyed our stay there. The location is perfect just on the edge of the center of town. Walking distance to everything, the bus stop right around the corner but the hotel was peaceful and quiet. Breakfast was excellent every morning, healthy and plenty to choose from. The best part was Sofia, she greeted us upon checking in and brought us to our room and was helpful with everything we need. She was just a perfect representative of the hotel and set the tone for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

This is a beautiful property in an old whaling captains mansion. The room, the products, the linens, towels, pillows etc were all excellent quality. The morning coffe and breakfast service was exceptional with fresh, quality options and presentation. Obviously there are alwatys some challenges when staying at such on old/historic property (steep, narrow stairways, fewer electrical outlets, etc.) but those minor inconveniences were really no bother in context of the quality of the hotel and its service.

This quaint property will be a memorable stay. Mostly for the kindness of Ellen, the property manager upon arrival. We had a lovely chat about her history with the property, she checked me in early and even went up before i did to make sure it was ready. I accidentally had her take my bag up that had my purse (license, credit card) but she allowed me to check in without it, no biggie. Wow. The property is very cute. No frills inside, but there is 24 hour coffee and tea, a little breakfast lounge.. freshly baked cookies set out in the afternoon. Outdoor courtyard is lovely with the fire pit table and loungers. I had the balcony room, which overlooks the courtyard. That will be the room i choose whenever i stay here (because there will be a next time). Conveniently located just a couple of blocks from shopping and dining and a less-than-5min walk to the bus stop! Wonderful!

Updated and beautiful hotel rooms. Concierge was helpful with sites to visit, bus schedules, etc.... A daily treat provided of homemade and warm chocolate chip cookies. Tea and coffee available 24/7. Daily breakfast was enough to start your day. An enjoyable stay!

The outside setting area is beautiful with a firepit to keep you warm on those cool evenings and you are not ready to be inside. We stayed in the top floor suite, love the separate bedrooms and the 1.5 baths, plus living area. Kaitlyn is a true gem, such a wonderful young lady, extremely helpful and she gave us a list of places to experience while visiting. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

We were greeted by a charming lady and had a lovely time. We did not like the hotel having no room heating but were offered a heater upon request. Please put some storage shelfs in the shower / Bathroom. Very nice property.
