View was wonderful. Shane was overly wonderful. He did all he could with a smile to make our stay as good as possible. We've stayed at the Surfrider in the past when it was newer. I was very pleased with our room after some of the reviews I read. We certainly missed the restaurant!!!!! All of the staff we met with were friendly and helpful. We appreciated being able to bring our beagle, Willie. Looking forward to the rebuild!!!!

Coastal get a way

The Clarion Surfrider may be a bit of an older establishment and worn in spots but cleanliness & comfortable surroundings can be found here. The bed was comfortable, plenty of towels and a spacious room with a beautiful view of the ocean. Also a private stairway to the beach below.

Dogs should not be allowed in the upstairs rooms

When my family and I first checked in things were okay. Upon entering we had to duck our heads as there was a birds nest directly across from our door. We had left and went exploring. When we came back around 7:00 the people above us had a dog and they were very loud!! People with dogs are supposed to be on the bottom floor according to the hotels rules. When I called the office the person told me that he would call them and ask them to quiet down but that there was nothing he could do since it wasn't 10:00pm. About 10 minutes later I called the office again and the person said he couldn't get a hold of them and that he would walk over and ask them to quiet down. I then asked that if I could possibly switch rooms and he said "No" that they were completely full. Also, it was my 50th birthday. Finally the upstairs people quieted down until about 7:00am when the loud noise started again. The room was okay. The screens on the windows were torn so we couldn't keep the windows open which was a bummer because I love to listen to the ocean. I was really looking forward to this trip and the hotel stay. When I checked out in the morning I explained to the gentlemen "John" what had happened and he had told me that people with dogs are not supposed to be in the rooms above the bottom floor. John was apologetic and very kind.

The views are amazing

It is a.great place to stay with amazing views. I was able to whale watch from the back deck. It's an older place, so not up to date. Beach access just down the stairway. I enjoy these older classic inn's. The new high rises aren't quite the same, no nature just concrete and parking lots. I was sad to learn that this place may be getting torn down for a rebuild, the feel just won't be the same. If there's a new resort I hope it remains family and pet friendly.

definitely needs an update

this hotel is in need of a remodel. they are in the works or demolishing and rebuilding but they are having issues getting it started( according to a paper we got at check in). restaurant and lounge are closed. hot tub closed. pool is open. the only good thing was the view. beach access which is all stairs. definitely needs an update. but we were only there to sleep so wanted horrible.

Look elsewhere

Stairs down to room were horrible and not sturdy. The face cloth had hair on it. The bed had hair on the side that was not ours, the fridge was warm, ad stated breakfast, turns out no breakfast or restaurant. Employees seen smoking outside of rooms and coming out of room. Was very run down.

Filthy, unsafe, and dilapidated

We booked this hotel on the coast to extend our family vacation and specifically booked it for the pool. After check in, which was friendly enough, we went to our room. To say that this property is in disrepair is an understatement. The bar and restaurant are permanently closed. Our room did not have a workable lock on the door or the slider - there was a note to use a stick in the slider to lock it. The fireplace in the room did not work. The baseboards and walls were filthy. The pool was moldy - including photos here. There was an outdoor fire pit that we were told did not work anymore although there was a full propane tank hooked up to it. There is a walkway down to the beach that is roped off with faded signs - when you inspect further you will note that the walkway has fallen onto the beach. Online there are notes that the property will be demolished so they are not doing any upkeep on it - some sites say October 2024 and others March 2025 - we stayed in July of 2025 and there was no demo started. My question is why do they choose to keep renting out a dilapidated property with false advertising online? The photos pictured were nothing like what actually existed. We also paid 170$ for this room for one night when I could find it for 90$ after check in on other sites. We could have stayed on the coast with no pool and a clean, safe room for much cheaper. Do not waste your money on this dirty, unsafe establishment. I would like to request a refund.

Every room with an ocean view

For my wife and I, it was a great value and location. Every room has ocean view, and it is extremely pet friendly. It is NOT fancy; rooms are comfortable, and grounds are a bit unkept. Nevertheless, you are in a central location to head out the coast. The hotel does not have a restaurant. I summary, it as a great no frills place that is an excellent value.

Beautiful views!

The view from our room was amazing!! We loved the little sitting area outside our room so we could take in the view. Front desk was polite and friendly. The property is quiet and there’s plenty of parking. Very pet-friendly! My ONLY criticism of the room was cleanliness. The floor definitely needed to be swept and mopped, and the tops of the baseboard heaters were dirty. The bathroom was okay but the shower needed to be wiped down more. If I knew the cleanliness of the rooms was stepped up, I would 100% stay here again!

Amazing View

We had a great time on our vacation. The view from our room was amazing. I enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching and listening to the waves. We liked the location of the property as well. It is outside of town, but close enough to the things we were interested in. We were disappointed that the restaurant is permanently closed but that seems to be the case with many restaurants in the area since Covid. Having the room serviced by housekeeping was only by request so no daily cleaning. No daily service was fine for us. It’s easy enough to request fresh towels. We stayed in the adults only building which was nice. We thought it would be super quiet but near by guests were playing music extremely loud. Fortunately that didn’t go on too late so it was fine. We would definitely recommend this property to others.
