Great spot
The hotel is very convenient if attending a function at Duke university. The staff was fabulous to deal with and were incredibly helpful and friendly. The only issue is that the lounge has modified times and isn’t open every evening. They also only served breakfast so you’ll have to go elsewhere (or Uber in) for lunch/supper.

I will not be coming back.
It was ok. The rooms look nothing like the pictures. The bathroom had a sliding door that did not provide privacy. The bedding looks old. The chair was broken. We had coffee in our room but no cups. I would not stay there again.

Pet fee not mentioned to us
We made a reservation to stay at the Millennium Hotel for our stay in Durham based on the fact that the hotel is advertised as pet-friendly. A week before our visit, we called Guest Services at Millennium to confirm our reservation and to confirm that it was OK to bring our Golden Retriever to stay with us. We were told it was fine to bring our dog and we were informed that we would need to pay a refundable $100 deposit in case there was any damage to the room that our dog might cause. That was the extent of what we were told about bringing our dog to stay with us. When we arrived at Millennium Hotel on New Years Eve we were told that we would need to pay a $100 pet fee on top of the $100 refundable pet security deposit. I informed the front desk person about the conversation we had with Guest Services earlier in the week when we were never told there was a $100 pet fee and she rudely informed me that there was nothing she could do since the front desk manager was on vacation for the week. If we had known in advance that there was a $100 pet fee, we would have made other arrangements for our dog to stay at home and not brought her with us to NC. We had no other options but to pay the $100 fee, The combination of not being informed about the fee when we had called earlier in the week to confirm our plans to bring our dog during our visit and the way we were treated by the front desk personnel was certainly not a pleasant way to end 2024 and to welcome in the New Year.

This grand old lady still has life in her.
The presentation from the entrance was very good. The registration person taking a personal phone call while checking me in was the first sign. The overpowering smell of the cigarette smoke in the hallways once you made it pass the the register area was the second sign. I really think that if the management took the time to do some basic upgrades like the carpets and air freshener to do something about the smoke smell the hotel would be very pleasant to stay at. The room was very comfortable and about what I expected for the price. I was a little disappointed when I ask for a room not on the 1st floor and was told none were available, considering that the parking lot was almost empty.

Decent stay
Staff were very friendly and check-in and check out was very efficient. My only issues were that I booked a king and only doubles were available which isn’t a huge deal however the tiny spiders and dirty sheets on one bed were. Otherwise good price and good location.
