Beautiful boutique hotel
My wife and i spent one night on our way back home from a trip in North Carolina. The minute you step into the lobby you realize how special of a hotel is in the heart of downtown Columbia. The staff went out of her way to get us in a room with a view. It was a Sunday night stay and not crowded so they moved us to Room 201. I highly recommend this room. The complimentary breakfast was two different types of quiche plus your normal bagels and such and they were both excellent! Restaurants are within walking distance and a short drive to a couple of breweries. Will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

Trip to U of SC
We traveled to Columbia and chose Hotel Trundle for its perfect location that is close to the U of SC, restaurants, and shops. The room we stayed in was clean and modern, however, the noise from other guests and traffic was too much. We did not sleep well at all during our 2 night stay. That was very disappointing especially for the price we paid to stay there. I do not recommend a room on the first floor at all.

Beautiful but Loud
Lovely hotel if you want to try something new. However, I found it to be rather noisy. I was in a room facing the street and it just wasn't conducive to a relaxing weekend. Also, the flags out in front of the building were loud enough to disrupt sleep in strong winds. Lots of banging noises at 7:30 am on a day I planned to sleep in. Beautiful room, but the bathroom had a rather funky smell. It reminded me of the lingering smell of bad body odor. Also, be very careful of wearing the hotel slippers on any tiled surfaces. I almost had a serious fall. The hotel staff were lovely! The welcome drink and popcorn upon check in was nice too. It was my birthday and there was a nice card and chilled wine in room. This is the kind of place you check into if you're in town to have a good time, but not if you want a peaceful restful stay.

The common space is both inviting and inspiring—a perfect spot to relax, explore creativity, and enjoy quality time. With games and magazines available, it naturally encourages connection and togetherness. Breakfast in the morning was a highlight, offering a delightful spread that felt both comforting and indulgent. It was the perfect way to start the day! Our room was beautifully decorated with classy eclectic touches that felt both luxurious and cozy. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and every amenity was thoughtfully provided. We truly wanted—and needed—nothing more. Hotel Trundle blends charm, history, and modern comfort seamlessly. It’s more than just a place to stay—it’s an experience. Liked the ambiance of the hotel. Negatives were inadequate water pressure in the shower and bathroom sink was too narrow, so water splashed onto clothing unless we were careful to severely reduce water flow from the faucet.

Welcoming for ALL!
Hotel Trundle has the coziest vibe inside. Once you walk inside for check in you are greeted and provided with a complementary choice of a glass of wine or beer as well as a bag of caramel popcorn. The staff from the front desk to housekeeping were exceptional and friendly. My wife and I are a same sex couple and we were treated just as anyone else would be and for us that is refreshing. We were comfortable being ourselves and not judged which unfortunately we have experienced elsewhere. We will absolutely return to Hotel Trundle anytime we visit Columbia!
