8/10 Very good

This was the best location in town next to the bridge ( which splits the town into two, with the best view from all its competitors right by the river .Bungalowsplaced apart for privacy ( not like the mandalo resort which we were interested in but just had lunch there). The restaurant which had great potential was a dark and uni Irina place ( a bit of colour needed perhaps some bright coloured tablecloths and some ethnic wall hangings). Breakfast was good.Room was large with a great balcony perfect for watching the world go by.Overall very good and great value but potential to be brilliant

Beautiful riverside bamboo huts
Overall lovely stay. Large furnished balcony overlooking the river and cliffs. Very comfortable bed with mosquito net (not that we needed it during January). Very welcome air conditioning and an effective ceiling fan. Shower was very hot but water did not last long - not enough for two people showering one after the other. Staff were really helpful arranging our onward transport which was greatly appreciated. Wifi was decent even though our hut was a fair distance away from reception. Lovely manicured grounds with lots of flowers which was really pleasant to walk through. The room itself is an individual bamboo hut. It is rustic, so there are gaps around the doors and in the bathroom. We did not experience unwelcome guests but it would definitely be possible so be aware of that. Despite the rustic feel, the room was very functional, comfortable and large. One negative was the buffet breakfast which although had reasonable number of well cooked options, had no local food and appeared to be completely aimed at westerners (we love rice or noodles for breakfast!).

Bungalow view was breathtaking and location was great. My bungalow was large, clean, and private. In addition, the man who greeted me and helped with my bag was absolutely charming. My only issue was that I paid the hotel to book my tuk tuk and boat ticket to Muang Ngoi and although I got the tuk tuk ride to the boat, the hotel did not arrange my boat ticket so I had to pay the boat fare again a second time when I got to the boat. The boat fare was only about $2.50 so it was more of a nuisance than anything else. I would definitely stay again, I just wouldn’t pay them to arrange any additional transportation.

4/10 Fair

Restaurants right near the property burn plastic garbage day and night. The rooms are not sealed so this will make you extremely sick. I am sorry I didn’t check out of this property sooner, but it was paid for and consequently I had a miserable time sick until I moved. A shame because it does have nice views, but if you can’t breathe the air it does you no good. I come from a major city in the US so I am no stranger to pollution but these are toxic fumes that begin before you arise and start again about 4 PM.

Recommend
Wonderful views from the room of nature and the river. The wood floors were nice and the bed was super comfortable. The only reason it does not get a perfect score is the bathroom. It was very small and only cold water. I would totally recommend this place. The restaurant is also wonderful and not expensive.

Attractive location, some issue with breakfast
We stayed at the Nong Kiau Riverside for 1 night in mid-December 2018. The location is great, on the bank of the Ou River right in the centre of town. There are plenty of eateries outside, although the hotel has its own restaurant as well. The accommodation consists of timber/bamboo bungalows, complete with bathroom, split system air-con and good Wi-Fi coverage. The room was clean and tidy. There is also a balcony overlooking the river. Mosquito netting is available for the bed, which we did not use overnight, only to discover some mosquito bites in the morning. The bungalows are spread along the river in a nice setting. The bathroom was a reasonable size, but the shower tap was a little stiff making it difficult to obtain the desired water temperature. There is also a safe in the room, but it was locked so we could not use it. We did not try to contact reception about getting it opened. We only used the restaurant for breakfast. There is a limited range buffet available, but they can also cook eggs for you on request (we did not). One problem we had was small bugs in the orange juice – not just in our cups but in the main container as well. Kind of turned us off breakfast a little. On the positive side the view from the restaurant is even better than from the rooms. Overall, this can be a great place to stay once they work out the issue with the breakfast mentioned above.

Beautiful views and comfortable accommodation.
Nice simple wooden bungalow with balcony overlooking the river. Accommodation was clean and functional. Hot shower, although as in most of Laos, it will flood the whole bathroom so don’t put stuff on the floor. Excellent buffet breakfast, the freshly made omelettes are delicious. Food in the restaurant is also very good. We booked our bus tickets back to Luang Prabang through reception. There was a bit of a mix up and the tuk tuk didn’t arrive, but they called the bus station and got the bus to wait for us. More expensive than the majority of the rest of the town, but in my opinion, worth it.
