We had great expectations for this historic hotel, but found it located in a dull residential area, and lacking in many other ways.
The junior suite was truly expensive, but very poorly laid out, with a surfeit of rickety tables and chairs, and every surface covered with knick knacks. The room and closet was wholly insufficient for our luggage. Bathroom was unimpresive and impractical - not even a single hook for a towel near the shower.
Another major problem was the lack of a functioning, modern AC system. After one uncomfortable night, we were offered a tiny fan to cool our room.
The "included" breakfast was substandard. We sat down and had to ask three times for coffee. Poached eggs arrived as we were ready to leave the dining room. On the second day of our stay we chose to go elsewhere for breakfast.
Just not worth the expense and the high ratings do not reflect our experience at all.
