Great hotel near old town

Great hotel with huge pool and private beach both with plenty of chairs. Although the rooms are a bit dated the hotel is still so elegant. Its in a great position and they have daily free car/shuttle to valletta. Would highly recommend this hotel

4 Night trip to Malta and Valetta

We chose this Hotel due to it's proximity to Valetta centre and the fact it had great outdoor pool and bar areas and its own mini beach. Valetta centre is only a 10 minute stroll away and if you're not into walking then the Hotel offers a regular free shuttle service to the centre. It certainly has the Grand Feel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a good powerful shower and we had a partial sea view which was really nice. The rooms are a little dated with regard to decor and furnishings but we didn't mind this due to it's comfort and all the other great facilities the Hotel had. Also free parking was very handy for us as we rented a car for our stay.

Hotell i rolige omgivelser, som har det lille ekstra til en overkommelig pris. Som en super beliggenhet rett utenfor sentrum (men med gratis transport som går hele dagen tur/retur til Valetta på et par minutter). Deilig badeområde med egen liten strand og flere basseng. Veldig hyggelige ansatte (bortsett fra noen,som trenger å øve litt på et smil og litt glimt i øyet i bassengområdet) og store og fine rom. (Mer enn nok av forskjellige produkter på badet. det er alltid deilig. Skulle gjerne hatt litt lukt på såper og shampo... ) God frokost med nok for oss å velge i, og høy grad av service blant alle i lobbyen. Ikke så mye å pirke på ellers, bortsett fra at det var litt innestengt på rommet (muligens pga tepper og folk som kommer opp i badetøy - ikke alltid helt tørre?) Og det trenger nok en liten oppgradering her og der. Men vi syntes det var sjarmerende med det litt "eldre" interiøret. . Liker godt alle friske blomster som de har over alt, og også på badet!

Excellent location helpful staff

Helpful staff good location for Valletta. Courtesy car up the hill. Would be good if finished later than 8.10 pm back from Valletta. Outside is great but they do need to update the bedrooms. Good breakfast

Some areas need attention

It is a nice hotel but there were a few things that didn’t meet the 5star standard in my opinion. Staff around the pool were busy as there were only 3 people serving drinks and the pool was packed I had to wait 30 minutes for my drinks. Difficult to get sun loungers as the pool allows day people in. Loungers were very uncomfortable. We had a problem with our shower it kept over flowing. The man came 5 times and in the end we moved to room 803. The tiles in the bathroom are all cracked and coming away something I would not have in my house let alone a 5 star hotel. The breakfast was perfect especially the person on the eggs and pancake. However I think the staff were new and in experienced and not attentive. Cleaning and reception staff were excellent Over all the hotel is lovely but the few things above let it down

A Wonderful Experience

The welcome by your staff was exceptional. No request or question was too much. Special mention to Victor, who delivered our bags & orientated us to the features of our room. The opulence of the front foyer and staircase is outstanding. Outside pool area was a relaxing environment. Shuttle service up the hill - very grateful. We loved our stay, and will be back. Considerations: The bathroom in 1056 needs an update. Mould and rust in the shower needs repair. The shallow end of the outside pool- steps & tiles slippery. Needs attention. Many thanks again. The Grand Excelsior Malta

My stay was ok. The building is very old and requires a heavy duty makeover including facade beautification. We had alot of problems with the room air-conditioning. The food, especially the breakfast was not the best quality. It was mostly industrialized packaged food. The pool service also requires attention. Although the pool staff worked hard to provide good service, pool drinks took over 20 minutes to be served. By then the beers and cocktails were warm. On the other hand, the staff did their utmost best to help us when the room ac didn't work. The restaurant staff was also excellent even though they were slammed with work. The front desk staff was GREAT, especially Sephora, she made the difference.
