Fun spot

We booked last minute during July which had lots of seaweed but we spent most of our time in the pool so we were fine. I’m positive they keep the beach very clean once seaweed season is over. The hotel could use a little updating but honestly I would book again. The food at all restaurants was very good and drinks were good. The pool activities were lots of fun. My room was very comfortable and clean and perfectly located to restaurants and pool (bldg 18) I have no complaints

Buen hotel pero adaptado a extranjeros

La estancia en general fue buena, estuvimos 3 noches y podría decir que fue una estancia amena. El hotel no es muy grande por lo que llegas a cualquier parte caminando. La comida es buena sin llegar a ser sobresaliente. En cuanto a bebidas mi esposa y yo no solemos tomar cocteles ya que siempre son muy dulces, probamos piñas coladas y mojitos y también eran muy dulces. El hotel está adaptado para extranjeros en cuanto a horarios, alimentos, y precios. Incluso durante los martes, que es noche mexicana, la comida no tiene un verdadero sazón mexicano. Algunos detalles a mencionar es que nos fue imposible encontrar camastros libres en el área de albercas, desde muy temprano en la mañana están todos apartados, aunque la mayor parte del tiempo los extranjeros están en la alberca y en realidad no los utilizan. El otro detalle fue con la información respecto a los restaurantes, durante el check in nos dijeron que todos salvo el restaurante bufete necesitaban reservación, pero al segundo día nos dimos cuenta de que no, se puede ir a cualquiera sin reservar, solo el teppanyaki en el restaurante japonés necesita reservación. No creo que me volvería a hospedar en el hotel, en general no fue una experiencia mala pero me gusta probar nuevos hoteles y este no me pareció fuera del promedio.

We just returned from a stay at this resort and overall had a really good experience. The customer service stood out right from the start. We had an issue with our room on the first night, and the staff handled it quickly and professionally. Everyone we dealt with was kind and helpful, which really made a difference. The pool area is beautiful and well maintained, and we enjoyed the entertainment throughout the day and evening. The restaurants were decent, and what really impressed my husband, who is a former executive chef, was seeing the buffet chef regularly checking food temperatures. That kind of attention to food safety is rare and definitely appreciated. As for the areas where the resort could improve, vegan dining options were very limited. Despite my best efforts to explain what I could and couldn’t eat, many staff members didn’t seem familiar with the concept of veganism. I was even given cheese a few times, so we decided to dine at the Buffet most often to avoid mistakes. This made meals a bit of a challenge for me. It’s listed as a five star resort, but I would personally rate it more as a four star. That said, for the price it still offers great value. Getting into Playa del Carmen is expensive by taxi, so bring plenty of cash if you plan to explore off-resort. There is an ATM on site, but it comes with high fees and a steep exchange rate, so I’d recommend preparing in advance.

Unfriendly Staff that acted inconvenienced anytime we asked for anything. Service was insanely slow. We booked privilege level and at our very first restaurant we were told told that some drinks had an up charge. Several bars we were at told us they wouldn’t give us upgraded alcohol even though it was sitting right there. Our A/C didn’t work well or keep the room very cool. One of the legs on one bed was completely broke off.

I cannot say enough good to describe Ocean Maya Royale! It is way over the top and deserves a perfect score! Definately a 5 Star Resort! We felt welcomed before we arrived! We had many questions which were promptly answered on emails back and forth and in fact I felt almost embarrassed for asking so many questions however I was reassured each time that they were there to answer anything I asked. Thank you so much! Right away we knew this was the place for us to celebrate a family vacation for my husband's 70th birthday!! We are frequent travelers and have been to many different countries on cruises, land trips, all inclusives, etc but the Ocean Maya will resonate in our memories for years to come and exceeds any cruise or all inclusive we have ever taken. We raved about this so much to our friends after the trip that they now want to go too,especially after seeing all our pictures and hearing about our experiences. Even the YouTube videos of Ocean Maya doesn't do it justice...its even better!!! Wow!!! We were welcomed as soon as we arrived. We checked in immediately and they answered all our questions and staff took us to our room. Upon entering our room we were surprised to find a birthday cake for my husband and rose petals, towels, robes and slippers. The mini bar is filled daily with 2 beer, pop and water. The restaurants, entetainment, pools, bars, activities are awesome! You will never be bored! A special sound out to Kenndell for making this trip so memorable!

This was our 6th visit to OMR, we absolutely love the staff they are amazing. The amount of staff who remember us by name is incredible, with the amount of people that they meet daily i don't know how they do it. My only complaint is that when people complain about something, such as the entertainment staff announcing the games around the pool, management changes things so they are now without a microphone to announce things and you can't hear. My advice to everyone is enjoy your vacation. If you don't like the resort you have visited don't go back, don't try and change it to what you like because the rest of us return because we like the way things are run. We can't wait for our next visit. MANAGEMENT...stop changing for the select few, those of us who keep returning love OMR just the way it is!
