DO NOT BOOK – Bait-and-Switch TERRIBLE service
I originally booked Melia Beach and Wellness (adults-only), but upon arrival, my reservation was arbitrarily changed to Zel Punta Cana without my consent. Staff falsely claimed I had selected a “Surprise Me” option (which doesn’t exist on Hotels.com) and refused to honor my original booking. The issues didn’t stop there: Check-in took 1.5 hours due to disorganization and understaffing. I was charged twice due to a confusing Apple Pay policy, leaving me with duplicate charges. My "butler service" never existed—despite multiple follow-ups. The room had major maintenance issues, including a leaking hot tub, faulty AC, and malfunctioning ceiling fan. Resort information was incorrect, leading to confusion about restaurant hours and reservations. Check-out was as slow as check-in, adding to the frustration. THERE IS NO FRONT DESK - Impossible to find someone to resolve issues. This was the worst resort experience I’ve ever had—completely unprofessional and disorganized. I will never stay at a Melia or Zel property again. Avoid this resort at all costs!

Overpriced
I’ve stayed at five different resorts in Punta Cana over the past few years, and if I had to rank them, this one would be at the bottom of the list. I mean, it’s not a terrible resort - it’s good. But you’ll find much better deals for less money. Majestic Elegance/Colonial, or TRS are better options, for example. My impression is that it relies on the Meliá branding to charge more than others, but it doesn’t offer the same amenities or variety. There are few restaurant options, you have to pay extra for a piña colada served in a pineapple, room service costs $10 per use, some plates in ‘all inclusive’ places has an extra cost, and even a restaurant recommended by the butler had an additional charge. That said, I stayed in The Level area, which is supposed to provide better service and a premium customer experience, but that wasn’t my experience at all. My check-in took too long, the concierge ignored my WhatsApp messages when I needed help, and on the first night, we were supposed to have a restaurant reservation—but it didn’t exist. We had to come back an hour later. TL;DR: This resort isn’t bad, but it’s overpriced for what it offers. The Level area didn’t provide the premium experience expected, and service was disappointing. Better options are available for a lower price

Un très bel hôtel 5 étoiles dans un environnement luxuriant ! Les chambres level sont top ainsi que les services associés et exclusifs comme les massages et le spa inclus… À améliorer : la nourriture qui pourrait parfois être meilleure meme si nous avons bien mangé dans l ensemble… le restaurant du Level est vraiment top et les petits déjeuners copieux et agréables… il faudrait améliorer la qualité des viennoiseries et des desserts mais rien de bien grave… Dernier point : les catamarans qui sont gratuits sauf les 50 dollars demandés pour la première fois, pour soi disant un cours pour juger des aptitudes du barreur…

OK experience in general - best part was just lounging at the pool and beach and enjoying the weather. Rooms are not clean. Found a roach and lizard in our room, when we called the front desk we had to wait 2 hours to have someone check it out and they told us that’s “normal”. Also, cleaning staff left our door open after coming in one morning. Food is ok, average. Not many options. No pool / beach service. Only one swim up bar at the pool. Getting around the property is tough because you need to wait for a car to come and get you. Unless you book a beach side property you’ll be waiting forever to go to the beach / pool, but then you’re far from the lobby / restaurants so it’s a lose -lose situation. Also, pushy staff forcing you to leave a good review which makes sense as to why they have 5 stars on Google. Deff not a 5 star. Much better all inclusives out there. Would not really recommend.

Upon arrival, we felt unwelcome. There were multiple employees at the front but no one seemed like they wanted to help us to check-in as they were all talking amongst themselves. We let it go since it was our first day of our vacation. We booked Non-level and thought of upgrading but my fiance and I decided to stay with Non-level. We booked the Premium Room Beachside. Our room was nice and clean. There were variety of food to choose from at the buffets and restaurants! The carts to travel from lobby to beach were consistent with their 12 mins wait time. My fiance and I did notice the employees catering more to certain demographics while we were greeted with a blank face and low energy. Overall it was a great property and delicious food but definitely needs some improvements with their customer service.

Wir haben unseren ersten Karibik-Urlaub im Melia-Hotel verbracht und würden es jederzeit wieder als Hotel wählen, denn folgende Punkte haben uns überzeugt: -Hotelanlage: Die weitläufige Anlage ist mit vielen kleinen Details versehen, was uns sehr gut gefallen hat. Zudem haben wir nicht gemerkt, dass das Hotel ausgebucht war, aufgrund der weitläufigen Anlage und den Häusern mit max. zwei Etagen. -Wellness / Spa: Das Hotel ist, wie der Name bereits verrät, kein Party-Hotel, bietet dafür aber einen super Spa-Bereich (getrennte Saunen, Dampfbäder, Pool und Hot Tube, kostenpflichtige Massagen) -Restaurants: Das Essen in den Buffet-Restaurants war sehr gut (und wir würden uns als anspruchsvoll bezeichnen). Zwei Mal waren wir in einem a la carte Restaurant (Moui und Barefoot), das Essen war gut, die Portionen okay, aber geschmacklich hat es uns im Vergleich zum Buffet nicht überzeugt. -Gym: Solide Ausstattung (Cardio & Kraft), jedoch zu Stoßzeiten am Morgen schon fast zu klein. -The Level-Upgrade: Wir haben das Upgrade im Voraus gebucht und es war jeden Cent wert. Vor allem der Concierge-Service hat den Urlaub durch den persönlichen Kontakt besonders gemacht. Einen Punkt möchten wir jedoch zur Verbesserung anregen: Die Caddys, die auf der Hotelanlage für die Gäste unterwegs sind, piepsen im Rückwärtsgang, teilweise so laut, dass man das auf den Zimmern morgens um 6/7 Uhr hört…Wir haben das Zimmer dann zum Glück wechseln können (Haus 16, vorher Haus 12).
