The hotel itself was very good. Great services, great look, room had everything fine, close to all the neighborhood, just a little hard to find, and in a cramp area. Cherng Yuan Hotel was one of the highlights of our trip. The room was beautifully designed and lit, and was definitely a lot of bang for the buck. The desk staff were gracious and polite, and the complimentary breakfast and dining area (on the top floor!) were awesome. Lots of nice little amenities, and the location is perfect for enjoying Sun Moon Lake. There was a dial-your-own espresso machine in the dining room during breakfast - This may not seem like a big deal, but it was a welcomed change after several days of instant coffee packets and milk-heavy cappuccinos in a country that knows its tea, not its coffee. Highly recommended.
