We had a one night stay at the Hermanus Beachfront Lodge, and wish we could have stayed for longer! The lodge got in touch with us ahead of our arrival, offering to help us book whale watching tours and restaurants, an offer we took them up on. Upon our arrival, Hester gave us recommendations for places to eat, and also called a few of them to check availability, although those places didn't pick up. Nevertheless, we ended up having a lovely dinner at one of her recommendations, enjoying the sunset while we drank the delicious local wine.
We had one of the two-bedroom suites with a breathtaking view of the ocean. Our room came with mini-self-catering facilities which we didn't use, and a small standing balcony which we did use. The bed was large and comfortable, as were the armchairs by the balcony. It was really nice and relaxing to listen to the ocean waves. During the day, we even caught a glimpse or two of whales out in the distance. Very, very cool.
Breakfast was nicely served, with a fruit platter laid out on our table to start. The hot offering was nicely cooked and the coffee was the best hotel/B&B coffee I had during my two week stay in South Africa, with a faint taste of blueberries!
In terms of its location, the lodge is a little far from the centre of town where the restaurants and whale watching tours are located, but not far if you have a car. The lodge is located close to the cliff path, which can be a nice short walk - or long hike, up to you!
