So, I normally stay here when I visit. I love this place.
However, this stay was a Christmas gift to my girlfriend. We arrived and nearly the entire hotel had been taken over for a wedding and several parties. So, my room was moved after my reservation and I was given a much lower floor with a terrible view. The cafe was taken over for private events. The restaurant was taken over for private events. Not once could we come down stairs and get a drink in the restaurant nor hang out by the elevator in a 3-day stay. You could not go to the 2nd or 3rd floor because of private events. Sometimes you couldn't get through the front door because of the private events. the spa was down. Our room was dirty. Toilet was dirty, no toilet paper, kitchenette was understocked, shower curtain did not fit our shower so the running shower covered the floor with water. No extra pillows or blanket in the closet. No paper nor pens at our desk to write with.
This visit felt like a massive waste of money and effort. If I want to stay somewhere and be treated like a second class citizen I would go elsewhere, which is what I will do next time.
You can't sell the luxury and access of a historic hotel and then restrict it for a few.
